Job Title: Manager, Distribution

Location: Dallas, TX

Essential Functions
  • Manage a team for both inbound and outbound shipments, including developing and executing strategies to optimize cost, on-time delivery, and service quality.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, freight forwarders, carriers, and internal teams to ensure the timely delivery of goods.
  • Stay updated on global trade regulations, duties, tariffs, and any changes that may impact inbound shipments. Additionally, ensure compliance with import laws and customs procedures by working closely with internal regulatory and trade compliance teams, as well as external customs brokers.
  • Monitor carrier KPIs to drive improvement on service level and cost as well as addressing any issues related to service or inefficiencies as established in SLAs.
  • Collaborate with warehouse management teams to ensure the smooth flow of inbound goods through the supply chain until received into inventory.
  • Implement best practices for the handling and storage of goods during transit to minimize damage or loss.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within the transportation network, including route optimization, mode selection, and consolidation of shipments by utilizing the TMS and data analytics to track performance metrics.
  • Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams, including procurement, customer service, sales, and finance, to align transportation strategies with business goals.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with transportation, including delays, supplier issues, and geopolitical challenges by developing contingency plans to minimize the impact of disruptions on the supply chain.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management on transportation operations, including cost savings, service levels, and compliance metrics.
  • Occasional travel to warehouses, shipping facilities, and vendor sites.


Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field required.
  • Minimum four (4) years of related operational experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical/health care industry, managing suppliers within a supply chain environment.
  • Proven ability to manage team, communicate across all levels of the organization, developing and working with cross-functional team members effectively.
  • Minimum three (3) years of related import experience including HTS classification, customs brokerage, and incoterms.
  • APICS / ASCM Certification in Supply Chain Management or other professional designation preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office (i.e. Outlook, Word, and Excel) and time management software experience desirable
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and manage multiple projects effectively
  • Demonstrate a high level of competency relating to processes, procedures, and systems
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and presentation (written/verbal) skills within all levels of the organization and with suppliers and customers
  • Demonstrate high level of integrity and sense of urgency
  • Ability to organize, manage and prioritize multiple tasks to ensure timely completion in a constantly changing environment
  • Must show initiative, attention to detail, be results oriented and highly motivated to see and take appropriate action to resolve issues
  • Perform effectively in environments with frequent workload changes and competing demands
  • Ability to function effectively with a minimum supervision
