Job Summary
The Finance Manager - FP&A Margin Planning & Attainment will serve as a trusted partner to the Finance, Planning, Product & Design, and Supply Chain teams. This role will play a critical role in setting margin targets for future seasons and long-range plans and will manage the planning and analysis of product margins for all GTM activities as well as annual budgets and forecasts. Additionally, the Finance Manager will oversee all in-season margin reporting, identifying and communicating key drivers of variances to plan. This position will proactively assess the revenue and margin impacts of cost, pricing, business unit mix, and assortment decisions, and will collaborate with the business to identify and drive solutions that align with company goals. Building strong cross-functional relationships will be essential to ensure effective collaboration and information sharing, and to identify innovative solutions to achieve targets. This role is also expected to constructively challenge senior leadership, helping to foster healthy debate and discussions and eliminate roadblocks that may hinder us from achieving targets.

Representative Responsibilities
- Manage Carhartt Inc.'s cost of goods sold (COGS) budget and forecasts, working closely with cross-functional partners across the organization to understand critical inputs and business changes impacting the attainment of Carhartt's product margin goals.
- Act as the Finance lead for seasonal margin reporting as part of the Go to Market (GTM) process. Reporting and analytics will range from detailed style and category level summaries up to Senior Executive level presentations of margin results and attainment to established targets. This process includes managing a wide scope of internal partnerships and critical inputs with cross-functional teams such as Merchandising, Business Planning, Supply Chain, and Pricing.
- Oversee reporting and communication of all product margin financial activities; communicate key drivers, and potential risks and opportunities to senior leadership. Establish key metrics associated with margin attainment by product category and business unit and provide recommendations to the business to help inform decisions and drive the achievement of targets.
- Develop future season COGS forecasts; oversee the development of robust analyses of seasonal cost changes. Partner closely with Supply Chain FP&A to ensure alignment and consistency regarding future cost assumptions.
- Help drive FP&A Margin department maturity through collaborative education and cross-functional teamwork, developing a continuous improvement mindset focused on achieving a set of shared goals.
- Coach, mentor and develop a team, and help cultivate an engaging, high performance learning environment through education, coaching, guidance, and ongoing knowledge transfer to support associate development.
Required Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience working in Finance or Accounting inclusive of:
- 3 years in a Cost, Margin, or related role at a mid-to-large company.
- 2 years of leadership experience, with a proven ability to attract and develop top talent.
- Strong business acumen; excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to develop executive-level presentations and effectively communicate across all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.
- Proven success partnering with key internal cross-functional leaders, with the ability to influence and drive positive changes across the business.
- Must possess an in-depth understanding of financial statements and accounting principles, familiar with key drivers of business and product profitability, with a comprehensive knowledge of gross margin components. Experience working in a multi-source business model including internal manufacturing a plus.
- Skilled in financial modeling/analyses and developing new tools and approaches to help inform critical business decisions.
- Highly proficient in Excel; experience with financial systems including SAP and BPC, and BI / Power BI preferred.
- Able to manage, and motivate a team of professionals, prioritizing multiple projects and competing demands.
- Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to review both own and others' work.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Travel (5%).
- Willing to work some weekends, if necessary.
- This position has a Hybrid location: Associate will work on-site regularly as needed for work activities.
