Position Summary
This role can be based in Akron OH or Danville KY
Reporting to the Division Manager of Carbon Operations, the Manager, Global Carbon Capacity Planning will lead both the short/long term planning and systems development for global carbon manufacturing to ensure the optimal utilization of facilities is achieved by balancing the capacity globally while ensuring each site makes use of appropriate technologies to support achievement of quality and productivity goals.
Essential Functions:
The incumbent is responsible to provide objective, functional and financial engineering/planning for capital expenditures to management and follow up on the implementation process; coordinate phases of cost reduction; forecast labor and equipment requirements to assure adequate equipment and machine capacity. The incumbent makes written and oral reports to management of findings and recommendations.
Lead the Carbon Supply Inventory Operating Planning (SIOP) process.
Responsible for leading a team of direct and indirect reports. Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations.
Good leadership and strong interpersonal skills are required for interfacing with groups from various departments and functional organizations. The Manager, Carbon Systems Engineering is responsible for fostering a motivating and positive work environment.
Key technical support for carbon manufacturing systems that support all Meggitt carbon sites.
Lead and continually develop business processes for optimal planning and flow.
Support long term capacity evaluation for all Carbon sites including supporting the supply development to optimize and leverage the most appropriate capacities and assets for growth and business continuity.
Key role in evaluation, implementation and support projects focused on emerging technologies improving quality, data integrity and productivity.
This role has appreciable latitude for making independent decisions and taking action.
The individual in this position will perform any other tasks properly assigned by the director/manager.
This role will be manager, planner, part engineer/integrator to support operations delivery, capacity and quality improvement initiatives.
Travel up to 20% of the year for multi-site support.
Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor degree in an Engineering field or related discipline is required.
Years' Experience: 10 years' experience in industrial engineering, planning systems/manufacturing execution systems is required.
Skills:
Strong computer skills, including utilization of various software including SAP/MES, Control Systems, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Strong working knowledge of manufacturing equipment, facilities support systems, safety and environmental practices and regulations is also required.
Strong working knowledge of carbon/graphite manufacturing with specific understanding of high temperature furnaces is highly desired.
A strong background utilizing lean tools and experience with various problem-solving methods is preferred.
Good working knowledge of carbon processing and manufacturing methodology is preferred.
Demonstrated capability to manage multiple activities and projects; works well under pressure.
Self-motivated, self-starter who works well in a team and can motivate others.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
