About The Role
At Uptime, safety is our top priority. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Manager to oversee and enhance our safety initiatives across all aspects of our operations - from projects and emergency service calls at our customer sites, to our shop and office environments. Your role will be pivotal in maintaining a culture of safety excellence, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and minimizing risks associated with our diverse industrial services.
As the Manager of Health and Safety, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, technicians, and management, to develop, implement, and continually improve comprehensive safety programs. Your expertise will be essential in building a holistic safety program, identifying potential hazards, conducting thorough risk assessments, and devising effective strategies to prevent accidents and injuries. You will have the opportunity to influence safety policies, deliver training sessions, and promote a proactive approach to safety consciousness throughout the organization.
This is an excellent role for an experienced Health and Safety professional who is keen to grow their scope of responsibility and improve the health and safety practices of the organization through implementation of new policies and safety technology, as well as the development of training programs for all levels of the organization.

About The Role

This is an excellent role for an experienced Health and Safety professional who is keen to grow their scope of responsibility and improve the health and safety practices of the organization through implementation of new policies and safety technology, as well as the development of training programs for all levels of the organization.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Safety Program Management:
- Continuous improvement of the Health and Safety Program of the Company through ongoing refinement of the Company's Safety Manual, as well as new policy design, policy implementation, and consistent communication and training;
- Lead the Safety Committee and convene regular meetings to gather field level feedback on safety needs throughout the organization;
- Refine and improve existing safety policies and standards for our various work locations (field, office, shop)
- Developing, drafting and distributing safety SOP's, Toolbox Talks, and Safe Work Practices/Procedures;
- Managing relationships with safety vendors and external training partners.
- Training:
- Tracking all completed training and active certifications, and managing the recertification schedule for all employees;
- Managing the safety portion of the onboarding program for all new employees;
- Become a certified "train-the-trainer" for various field related certifications, and host regular training sessions (MEWP, Forklift, Boom, Fallpro, Confined Space, Fit Test, etc).
- In partnership with Human Resources, tracking and managing all safety related infractions and ensuring relevant training is provided;
- Managing return-to-work program;
- Partnering with the Technical Support Manager to identify safety related training needs and specialized training topics and opportunities.
- Field Team Support:
- Assist with project planning and risk assessments to identify job specific hazards, determine specialized PPE requirements, and design site specific rescue plans;
- Managing the relationship with customer safety representatives and ensuring project teams have the required training and information to adhere to site/customer specific safety requirements. Additionally, managing and customer related safety documentation and providing certificates of insurance where necessary;
- Partnering with Operations Managers and performing regular site visits to ensure our teams have the required PPE, training, support, and certifications to execute projects and service requirements safely.
- Inspections/Audits/Reporting:
- Regular FLRA Audits and safety equipment audits (harness inspection and calibration, respirator fit and condition, etc);
- Conduct regular site visits, particularly on larger projects to ensure teams are working with best practices in mind, and have the required safety equipment and PPE to perform the work safely;
- Managing internal PPE inventory;
- Leading safety investigations and preparing incident reports;
- Regular company vehicle inspections.
- System Management:
- Assist with the implementation of an electronic safety management system and take ownership of ongoing maintenance, reporting and analytics;
- Managing the WCB relationship, processing clearance letters, completing form 7, reporting, and managing the account. In addition, managing the safety regulatory requirements for inter-provincial work in Alberta and Ontario;
- Managing safety information within portals utilized by our customer base, including but not limited to: Contractor Check, Avetta, Cognibox, ISN.

Our Must Haves
- Occupational Health and Safety certificate or diploma, preferred;
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation an asset;
- Experience in a COR certified environment an asset;
- CSO designation an asset;
- Experience with electronic safety management systems (ex: Site Docs);
- Experience in a multi-site environment;
- Excellent presentation and training ability;
- Well-versed in the Microsoft Office suite an asset (Office, Sharepoint, Teams);
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Posses a valid B.C. Drivers License and the ability to readily travel to various Uptime work sites as required;
- Train the trainer certification is an asset (any or all of: Fallpro, MEWP, Boom, Forklift, Confined Space, Fit Testing).

- Salary: $90,000-$110,000 per year
- Please note - the listed salary is dependent on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process.
