Job Overview:
This is a newly created position for a growing, private-equity backed company. We are subject to indirect taxes in the United States, United Kingdom, Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico and Ireland. The Indirect Tax Manager will be responsible for Sales and Use Tax (SUT), Goods and Services Tax (GST), Value Added Tax (VAT), property tax and other indirect taxes. They will work with multiple jurisdictions, service providers and other accounting and tax professionals to accomplish these responsibilities.

The Indirect Tax Manager will be responsible for Sales and Use Tax (SUT), Goods and Services Tax (GST), Value Added Tax (VAT), property tax and other indirect taxes. They will work with multiple jurisdictions, service providers and other accounting and tax professionals to accomplish these responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate processes and procedures, recommend changes necessary to allow for the implementation of SUT software and maintain internal controls related to indirect taxes.
- Support the implementation of SUT software into NetSuite with the assistance of internal resources and external advisors.
- Monitor and assess filing thresholds across all tax jurisdictions and make recommendations for new filings, which may include Voluntary Disclosure Agreements.
- Ensure indirect tax returns are filed timely and accurately, including a calendar of due dates for all 23 subsidiaries (and growing).
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations for all indirect tax accounts.
- Work with external tax advisors to complete a SUT nexus for all domestic subsidiaries.
- Gain an understanding of the foreign subsidiaries and their transactions, and work with external tax advisors to ensure the accuracy of GST and VAT returns.
- Review contracts to determine proper indirect tax treatment.
- Review and maintain reserves for indirect taxes.
- Maintain exemption documentation for vendors.
- Oversee, manage and coordinate responses to indirect tax audits, inquiries and notices.
- Stay current with tax regulations related to indirect taxes and advise on the implications, updating relevant stakeholders as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including accounting, legal, and finance teams.
- Recommend tax technologies to maximize the department's automation and efficiency.
- Maintain a repository of all indirect tax returns and related communications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar
- 5+ years of recent indirect tax experience
- GST and VAT experience is preferred
- Strong tax research and computer skills
- Team player and willingness to collaborate
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational methods

- Extensive desk-based work involving prolonged periods using a computer and sitting for extended periods
- Frequent interaction with team members, management, agents, Business Development Managers (BDMs), and external partners to facilitate smooth operations and collaborations
