The Opportunity:

Our client, a world-class provider of packaging and medication dispensing solutions is looking for a Manager of Information Technology Operations to join their team. The Manager of IT Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day function of the IT department's Infrastructure and Support. This is a hands-on role that will lead the management and maintenance of our client's key data centre and network infrastructure assets to ensure they meet operational targets. The Manager of IT Operations will also lead a small team of IT support colleagues that provide shared service support to all company locations and business units.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Own the design, installation, monitoring, maintenance, and support of all production and nonproduction data centre and network infrastructure.
  • Plan and perform server OS and application upgrades, bug fixes, patches, backups, restores, and management of all data centre and network infrastructure.
  • Develop new system and application implementation plans, risk assessments, contingency plans, and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.
  • Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of key production assets to support a 24x7 manufacturing and distribution organization operating across multiple time zones.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop IT support colleagues, with the goal of meeting all internal SLAs and performance metrics.
  • Provide guidance on the need for and prioritization of technology maintenance, replacement, and upgrade initiatives.
  • Provide after-hours leadership for Infrastructure related emergencies as well as occasional weekend maintenance.
  • Oversee the security of IT systems and hardware, ensuring compliance with data protection policies. Conduct security audits to identify vulnerabilities and maintain phishing and security reports for quarterly reviews.
  • Coordinate with 3rd party data centre staff to manage all data centre infrastructure.
  • Serve as the Tier 2/3 escalation point for helpdesk issues supporting multiple locations in Southwest Ontario, the UK and Spain coordinating with 3rd party partners as required.
  • Participate in the organization's disaster recovery plan (DRP) by developing, documenting, maintaining, and regularly testing procedures to recover key production assets.
  • Evaluate new IT technologies and make recommendations to ensure compatibility and effectiveness across platforms, networks, applications, and tools.
  • Mentor and cross train team members on existing and new technologies.


What You'll Need To Be Successful:

  • 7+ years of progressive work experience in IT, including exposure to both in-house and outsourced systems and solutions.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience managing technology infrastructure (servers, storage, network), databases and operating systems in a Windows and Linux server environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Server (2003 and above) and Windows 10/11 operating systems.
  • A Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or related field.
  • Working knowledge in building, managing, and securing Linux servers is an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge in cybersecurity practices and implementations including NIST 800-53, ISO/IEC 27001/27002, and/or CIS Controls v7/v8.
  • Strong working knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policies.
  • Solid understanding of LAN/WAN networking.
  • Experience managing a VMWare virtualized environment.
  • Microsoft SQL Server and TSQL experience is an asset.
  • Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, and OneDrive experience is an asset.
  • Experience working with VPN, IAM, MFA, and other infrastructure tools (e.g. RMM, IDS and SIEM) is an asset.
  • Cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS, Azure) experience is an asset.
  • Prior ERP experience (especially SAP R/3, Infor Visual 10, or Sage 50/200) is an asset.
