We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time temporary Manager, Meat Procurement to join our Merchandising team in Langley, BC.

This temporary position is expected to last 12 months.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Meat Procurement, you will be responsible for collaborating with key business areas to assess procurement needs, develop sourcing strategies, and manage supplier relationships while ensuring compliance, continuity, and lowest cost of goods for Pattison Food Group. Leading negotiations, supplier performance analysis, and risk management efforts, while staying updated on market trends and regulatory changes to drive efficient, long-term supplier partnerships.

You will be responsible for:
  • Partnering with Merchandising, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and other key business areas to understand requirements, collaborate on business planning, and assess procurement needs, including targets, suppliers and product volumes.
  • Developing and implementing supplier sourcing strategies, including issuing RFI's (Request for Information), RFP's (Request for Proposal) and invitations to bid, while ensuring cost savings, trade investments, demand forecasting, and business metrics are met.
  • Leading internal and external supplier review meetings, overseeing negotiations and managing funding and costing agreements, including contract management.
  • Developing and consolidating data for managing supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost leverage, procurement, and long-term supplier relationships.
  • Recommending preferred supply sources based on banner listings and data, ensuring company benefits from commodity purchases.
  • Conducting risk management analysis to anticipate supplier disruptions, regulatory changes, and market fluctuations, while ensuring continuity of supply and addressing supplier concerns promptly.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental, social, and governance guidelines, specifically seafood commodities.
  • Working with Inventory Management, Transportation, and other key business areas to assess procurement needs, set up commodity deliveries, and contingency plans in case of emergencies.
  • Addressing and resolving supplier issues and concerns promptly, focusing on satisfaction and resolution.
  • Staying updated on government and trade regulations and communicating with relevant parties as needed.
  • Visiting competitors, suppliers, and industry events to monitor market trends and best practices.


You have:
  • 5+ years of merchandising experience with in-depth working knowledge of supply chain, store operations, and processes.
  • A post-secondary education in business administration or relevant discipline is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of interpreting financial information (e.g., budgets, P/L statements) and data analytics with a strong business acumen.
  • Project management experience with the ability to organize short and long-term plans.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Power BI or other reporting tools is an asset.
  • Experience with commodity purchasing, including negotiating supplier contracts is an asset.
  • A valid driver's license and vehicle, with the ability to travel on an as-needed basis.

Compensation Details:
$87,075.00 - $116,100.00
The compensation offered for this position will take into consideration location, education, skills, experience, and other factors.
