About the opportunity:
Day-to-day responsibility for planning, organizing, developing, directing, coordinating and evaluating the quality of direct patient care throughout Shaw Cancer Center. Emphasis is placed on safety, service and satisfaction as it relates to clinical practice, quality patient outcomes, leadership, staff development and professionalism. Ensures interdisciplinary collaboration with all departments to facilitate optimal patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.
What you will do:
Manages the daily activities of clinical staff to optimize patient care, safety, and satisfaction, working in collaboration with unit directors, quality personnel, staff development and other members of the health care team to provide, enhance or improve care delivery to patient population by evaluating clinical practices, developing methodologies and implementing standards of care and best practice, providing consultative services, and by assessing and addressing patient and staff clinical educational needs. Provides support and leadership for shared governance committees, while maintaining responsibility for innovation and change in patient care system. Develops, coordinates, and evaluates quality and performance improvement efforts. Collaborates with other departments, including Quality and IT to implement evidence-based improvement initiatives using proven LEAN strategies. Participates in the development of policies and procedures that are based on current recommendations and evidence. Ensures nursing practice follows policy and meets current standards. Provides formal and informal education for nurses and other health professionals. Assists with the development and monitoring of the budget. Practices efficient and cost effective coordination of care and unit practices. In collaboration with Shaw Regional Cancer Center leadership, designs and evaluates programs and initiatives that are congruent with the organizations strategic plans, regulatory agency requirements, and nursing standards. Serve as a leader and liaison in problem-solving departmental issues/concerns to foster communication and cooperation and to ensure effective service for patients. Seek first to understand and come from a place of "What if?" Evaluates staff performance in alignment with Human Resource guidelines. Encourages and facilitates professional growth for all staff. Works to continually improve upon staff engagement and satisfaction. Promote an atmosphere of warmth, compassion, and understanding while demonstrating empathy and the ability to relate to families in crisis. Role models the principles of a Just Culture. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need:
Experience:
- A minimum of five years of nursing experience required.
- A minimum of two years of experience in oncology setting required.
- Management experience required.
- LEAN process improvement experience preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Ability to evaluate and assess needs of staff.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with managers, staff, physicians, and patients.
- Knowledge and application of professional nursing theory, practices, and procedures.
- Excellent clinical practice skills with competence in assessment, judgment, clinical decision making, and delegation.
- Ability to perform duties and responsibilities promptly and consistently with little direct supervision in planning and organization his/her work.
License(s):
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado or from a valid compact state required.
Certification(s):
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Computer / Typing:
- Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
Education:
- Minimum of Associate Nursing Degree for positions hired after 07/01/2018.
