Position Description
The Manager, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) at Coady Institute is responsible for the design and execution of evaluation activities that measure the success of the Institute, in line with its 2025-2030 strategic plan. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the work of the MEL Manager will be used to inform institutional decisions and make changes that help improve outcomes, both at the organization level as well as at the project and program levels. The Manager must have a strong knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the various methods and techniques used in monitoring and evaluation by the Institute, including a solid understanding of Indigenous evaluation methods, feminist evaluation and / or other relevant participatory frameworks, with the ability to make evidence-based recommendations together with communities and partners based on the data collected. In particular, the MEL Manager will guide the evaluation framework for Coady's education programs, ensuring rigorous data collection and analysis.
The MEL Manager will guide the MEL processes embedded in a range of projects and programs undertaken with a variety of partners in Canada and abroad - this includes holding contextual knowledge relative to the Institute's sectors of work, data collection methods, data analysis techniques, and reporting formats. The Manager will ensure that initiatives undertaken by the Institute have the appropriate frameworks for measuring the achievement of their respective goals.
The MEL Manager will apply principles of good partnership and collegial management to ensure strong stewardship of related funding partnerships in keeping with the respective partnership agreement between Coady Institute and funders. The Manager will engage Coady Directors, Program Staff, Coady teaching staff, finance, and administrative staff in the planning, management, and accountability components of evaluation where appropriate, providing training and/or guidance for project staff and/or partner organizations. The Manager will also oversee the coordination of external evaluations as required, including the management of data and acting as a conduit between any consultant, Coady staff and partners.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the development of evaluation plans for Coady-led projects, ensuring proper systems and implemented and accompany / assist M&E teams on projects for which Coady is a learning partner.
- Ensure the integrity of project implementation plans and management frameworks.
- Review and manage donor evaluation needs, utilizing relevant donor frameworks where required for design and delivery.
- Contribute to the consolidation of impacts across projects in which Coady Institute is engaged, to ensure larger institutional impact reported.
- Provide guidance and/or training support to project partners, ensuring capacity is built among them using state-of-the-art methods in monitoring, evaluation and research.
- Ensure ethical principles are applied in project monitoring and evaluation.
- Guided by the Coady Institute strategic plan, design, implement and oversee an Institute wide evaluation framework which provides coherence in measuring overall impact of Coady's programming and desired institutional strategic outcomes.
- Develop processes and workflows to ensure consistency in data collection and analysis across the institute.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will possess at minimum a Master's degree in a relevant area or related experience and concurrent Master's studies
- Minimum of five to seven years of related experience is required.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint are essential.
- This position may require a flexible work week during peak periods.
- The ability to work well with others, both internally and externally, from a wide variety of backgrounds in a professional environment.
