Yusen Terminals LLC ("YTI," based in Terminal Island (Los Angeles), CA, is wholly owned by Ocean Network Express (ONE), with office headquarters in Singapore.
YTI operates a state-of-the-art marine container terminal in the Port of Los Angeles. YTI was established in 1991 at the Port's Berths 212-218. The services we provide are stevedoring and terminal operations for The Alliance (ONE, Hapag Lloyd, HMM and Yang Ming) as well as slot chartering from Evergreen, CMA-CGM, APL, COSCO and OOCL. As a full-service marine terminal, YTI provides modern technology, equipment, on-dock rail, storage facilities and Alternative Maritime Power (AMP). YTI's highly experienced management team are devoted to efficient cargo handling with a focus on service delivery and customer satisfaction. We currently operate eleven Post Panamax Gantry cranes including six state-of-the-art Super Post Panamax Gantry cranes. YTI is focused on giving all our customers a reliable "Best-in-Class" service delivery as well as a complete suite of marine terminal services to the shipping and transportation community.

Overview:
Reporting directly to the General Manger of Maintenance and Repair, the Manager, M&R is responsible for daily supervision of our maintenance vendor (PCMC) to ensure a safe and efficient operation that maximizes equipment availability while meeting all scheduled maintenance intervals with proper manning levels and parts control.

What you will do:
- Responsibility to plan and execute your work in ways that prevent injuries. It is an expectation to lead by example and require all employees to adhere to our safety procedure.
- Reinforce YTI's safety philosophy and culture by engaging vendors to achieve safety goals and maintain high safety standards. Responsible for attending a monthly vendor safety meeting and conducting monthly shop inspection to ensure that shops are kept clean and free of hazards.
- Track and report on key performance indicators, mechanic efficiency, and repair task logs. Analyze performance data to ensure that PCMC takes responsibility by providing actionable insights and recommendations for improvements, and consistently meets or exceeds YTI's expectations.
- Oversee the daily operations of the M&R department, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning of all repair and maintenance activities. This includes daily interaction and effective communication with PCMC onsite Field Managers and the YTI Operations team to address operational issues promptly and effectively. Equipment uptime and availability are the utmost priority to support operations.
- Partner with the General Manager to manage the annual operating budget by monitoring expenditures (labor costs and Parts & Consumables), analyzing cost efficiency, and implement any strategic cost-saving measures as directed by the General Manager. Regularly review financial performance and assist in developing strategies to stay within budget while achieving financial targets.
- Oversee the implementation and adherence to the preventive maintenance schedule for all equipment according to the Original Equipment Manufacturer's requirements.
- Support the General Manager in overseeing revenue for chassis, genset, and reefer repairs. Collaborate with YTI's Finance Team to identify billing discrepancies, manage revenue streams, and ensure PCMC is billing accurately and timely to maintain financial integrity.
- Ensure PCMC manages the parts inventory and procurement processes in accordance with YTI's policies. This includes interfacing with suppliers, handling invoices, and working closely with the procurement manager to negotiate service contracts to ensure timely availability of necessary parts and materials. Fixed asset inventory will be conducted annually, and random spot checks will be conducted to reconcile the third-party labor service provider's records.
- Performs other job duties as required.
What you will bring:
- Undergraduate degree preferred or equivalent years of professional working experience. Experience in transportation or the maritime industry is preferred.
- Knowledge of the transportation, warehousing, international forwarding, or general logistics industry may be helpful, but not required. Understanding the ILWU contract very helpful.
- Managerial and/or supervisory skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of stevedoring equipment and maintenance
- Understanding of labor relations, labor staff oversight, report preparation and budgetary development.
