Job Description

Candidates must have recent clinical practice experience in a hospital setting.

This role involves both clinical practice and management of up to 30 APP FTEs.

Summary

Provides support to the APRN/ PA practice in promoting the professional development of advanced practice. Works to hire, onboard, orient and develop APRN/PAs to the full extent and scope of their practice and license. Provides support and development opportunities for APRN/PA staff; evaluates individual performance planning and improvement. Promotes advanced practice within the institution and outside to enhance visibility and access for patients and referring providers.

Area Specific Job Accountabilities:
Leads clinical operations and provides administrative and clinical leadership to provide expert care in assigned Divisions at Lurie Children's and outreach sites.
Works with APN/PA staff to plan and provide essential coverage for daily operations. Ensures for the provision of efficient and effective high-quality patient care in the above noted departments.
Manages and monitors APN/PA performance planning and improvement process.
Facilitates and coordinates the development of department protocols/policies and guidelines for the continuity of care amongst the specialty/areas.
Facilitates a consistent orientation process and documentation of achievements amongst new hires and experienced staff.
Promotes the advancement of the nursing profession at Lurie Children's both locally and nationally, which may include publication, participation in professional organizations, obtaining certification in specialty area and supporting the education and staff development of the nursing staff.
Collaborates with the Director on budget preparation and monitoring of monthly variance. Makes recommendations for budget adjustments based on analyzed data and change in practice or trends when appropriate.
Participates in research design, implementation and interpretation.
Meets the Medical Staffs Allied Health Practitioners core measures of performance related to patient care, medical knowledge, practice based learning and improvement, interpersonal communication skills, professionalism, and system-based practice.
Facilitates meeting regulatory requirements and accreditation standards to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, law and accreditation requirements (e.g. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), IL Department of Public Health Hospital Licensing Act (IDPH), Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) and The Joint Commission (TJC).
Ensures that all external licensure and accreditation standards are met in accordance with the requirements and reporting standards for all Federal, State, Local and other regulatory agencies.
Ensures that evidence-based professional standards of practice are developed, understood, implemented and evaluated.
Assesses productivity measures and standards and collaborates with APN/PA's and physician staff to improve productivity, patient access to care and throughput.
Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Master's degree from an accredited school of nursing; APN required, NP certification required.
Three years of clinical experience as an APN.
Licensure to practice in the State of Illinois required.
Working knowledge of current AAP guidelines for preventive care of children.
Previous leadership experience preferred.
Strong communication skills in order to address patients/families, physicians and hospital staff.
Strong organizational and problem solving skills to manage complex processes and relationships in an evolving role while working with a diverse workforce.
Ability to advance knowledge base through self-directed learning to maintain competency in the leadership role.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance expectations and standards.
Excellent communication skills

Pay Range
$145,600.00-$240,240.00 Salary

The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position. Ranges are regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions.
