MANAGER OF EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George (RDFFG) is one of 27 regional districts in BC. We are a local government that provides governance and delivers a wide range of services to people living in seven electoral areas and four member municipalities that include, the City of Prince George, the District of Mackenzie, and the Villages of McBride and Valemount. Our administrative office is in Prince George, in North Central, BC on the unceded ancestral lands of the Lheidli T'enneh First Nation.

The Regional District has an exciting opportunity for a motivated, self-starting and energetic individual to join the Community and Development Services Department as the Manager of Emergency Preparedness. This is an exempt position and the Manager directly supervises, assigns work, and monitors the performance of direct reports.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK

The Manager of Emergency Preparedness is responsible for the oversight and coordination of services, staffing, programs and activities as it relates to mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery of emergencies through the Regional District's Emergency Preparedness Service.

Under general direction, the Manager of Emergency Preparedness works closely with staff, elected officials, regional partners, including Indigenous Governing Bodies, member municipalities, other local authorities and the public to provide leadership in the delivery of the Emergency Preparedness Service in accordance with the Emergency and Disaster Management Act and the Regional District's strategic priorities, bylaws, regulations, policies and procedures.

The Manager of Emergency Preparedness supervises and monitors the performance of assigned employees and contractors, is accountable for safe and efficient use of Regional District resources, equipment and materials and the administration and evaluation of service and contracts to achieve required outcomes within budgetary limitations.

The Manager of Emergency Preparedness reports to the General Manager of Community and Development Services or designate, within the Community and Development Services Business Unit.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

1. Undergraduate bachelor's degree in related field.

2. Minimum of five (5) years of local government or experience related to emergency management.

3. Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience in managing employees in a unionized environment.

4. Ability to obtain and maintain a clear Police Record Check for offences related to this position.

5. Membership with British Columbia Association of Emergency Managers.

6. Thorough knowledge of the Emergency and Disaster Management Act and Regulations.

7. Thorough knowledge of BC Emergency Management System and Incident Command System.

POSITION COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $110,000 (2025 rate) and will be commensurate with education and years of experience.
