The team
Toronto Metropolitan University's Facilities Management and Development (FMD) department involves care of the physical environment of the campus and strategic planning for existing and future spaces, including the impacts of those spaces. FMD is responsible for functions including Environmental Health and Safety, Facilities Services, Maintenance and Operations, Planning and Development, Project Management Office, Real Estate, and Sustainability.

Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) is looking for a Manager, Facilities Services and Contract Management to drive excellence in campus facilities. In this role, you will develop and implement short, medium, and long-term asset management strategies to ensure service reliability through proactive maintenance programs. You will oversee and optimize all facilities-related service contracts-including maintenance, custodial, student housing, and leased facilities-while ensuring third-party vendors deliver exceptional service. Additionally, you will lead the Facilities Help Desk, ensuring prompt and effective facility operations that support TMU's vibrant academic and residential communities.

To help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications:
- University Degree in an engineering discipline preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent;
- P. Eng designation would be considered a strong asset.
- Minimum of seven (7) years' progressively increasing experience in plant and equipment maintenance planning, scheduling and prioritizing working with a CMMS system, procuring services and contract management, managing people in a unionized working environment preferably in an academic institution.
- Demonstrated knowledge of building design, mechanical and electrical systems operations and maintenance, regulatory and code requirements;
- Knowledge of plant, equipment machines, tools and gauges and trade operations such as HVAC (e.g., electric/electronic controls, pneumatic controls, water and air balancing); boilers and chillers operations, plumbing, pipe fitting, steam fitting, gas fitting, millwrighting and troubleshooting;
- Familiarity with industry best practices, Green building Initiatives, LEED and BOMABest certification programs;
- Project monitoring, co-ordination and reporting skills;
- Equivalent experience or a combination of equivalent experience and education may be accepted in place of education.
