Plan and Spec Manager - Commercial

Job responsibilities:
  • Responsible for managing the Commercial Inside Sales Plan & Spec (P&S) team.
  • Ensuring the P&S inside sales team provides high customer service standards, answering calls and e-mails, customer sales support, timely response to quote requests and additional support as needed.
  • Managing the P&S Sales team's performance reporting, streamlining processes and systems wherever possible, and advising senior management on maximizing business relationships and creating an environment where customer service excellence is the standard.
  • Provide high standards of ongoing product training so the P&S Sales team possess the above-mentioned knowledge to add value to our customers. Including training on the various software platforms that are utilized to accurately and professionally serve our customers.
  • Observe the P&S Sales team's performance accurately quoting jobs, response times, call quality and provide coaching and feedback.

The Plan & Spec manager is responsible for the following:
  • Supervise staff, organize, assign, and monitor work process
  • Develop and deliver training and education programs for the P&S team as needed
  • Develop strong working relationships with supporting teams
  • Develop working relationships with key customers as needed
  • Partner with regional sales leadership to support sales objectives and goals
  • Provide job-specific information and support to customers and outside sales staff
  • Ensure the P&S team provides accurate takeoff and estimates
  • Ensure the team promptly addresses requests for quotes
  • Maintain job tracking system (Salesforce), report to CML Director, update for sales meetings
  • Bid coordination to ensure the team is receiving bids we can quote

  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Superior written, oral and presentation skills.
  • Proven problem solving, leadership and listening skills.
  • The ability to learn product and vendor knowledge quickly and accurately.
  • High technical competency with engineering-related subjects.

And here is what you will need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college or university preferred.
  • Distribution, manufacturing, HVAC or related industry sales experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a team.
  • Must be well organized, detail oriented and be proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Must possess the ability to solve problems and multi-task.
