MANAGER OF MATERIALS LAUNCH

JOB SUMMARY:

Manager of Materials Launch oversees the successful introduction and execution of materials planning, procurement, and logistics strategies for new product launches. This role ensures seamless integration of materials into production processes, manages timelines, and oversees a team including Industrial Engineers to ensure manufacturing readiness and process optimization. The position plays a critical role in coordinating cross-functional teams to achieve launch objectives while meeting cost, quality, and delivery targets.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and execute materials strategies to support new product introductions, ensuring timely availability of components and raw materials.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, procurement, and logistics teams to align material readiness with launch schedules.
  • Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks related to material shortages, delays, or quality issues.
  • Supervise Industrial Engineers involved in optimizing processes and layouts to support efficient materials flow during launches.
  • Collaborate with Industrial Engineers to implement lean methodologies and ensure alignment with production requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Industrial Engineering team to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance the efficiency of materials management during launches.
  • Leverage data analytics and feedback from past launches to refine future materials strategies.
  • Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency in materials launch activities.
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets for materials launch initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment with programming milestones and overall product launch schedules.
  • Drive change management initiatives to support the adoption of new materials processes or systems.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements during material launches.
  • Track and report key metrics related to materials readiness, cost performance, and launch success.
  • All other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years' experience in Automotive Manufacturing or related field. 2+ years' experience and demonstrated success as a knowledgeable supply chain manager in an Automotive Manufacturing, Assembly or Distribution facility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Significant experience in materials management, supply chain operations, or new product launches.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams, including Industrial Engineers.
  • Knowledge of supply chain systems and tools such as ERP.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Project management expertise, including proficiency in tools like MS Project or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and solving supply chain challenges.
