Responsibilities:
- Report to Nursing leadership for the hospital site, assuming management responsibility for a single major (or multiple smaller) function, service, or process that supports Nursing operations.
- Manage multiple similar/smaller Nursing units or a single major Nursing operational support function.
- Oversee direct-reports, which may include Clinical Managers, high-level professional/administrative exempt staff, and Nursing supervisory personnel.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate processes related to performance improvement, staffing effectiveness, fiscal management, staff competence, and customer service outcomes within designated units/services.
- Ensure regulatory requirements/standards are communicated, implemented, and monitored.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to plan, implement, and evaluate activities related to department, hospital, and DMC objectives.
- Model customer service excellence.
- Identify the need for departmental policy development/revision and define policy in collaboration with higher-level management input and department goals/objectives.
- Oversee the development/revision of departmental procedures/protocols; secure necessary approvals.
- Monitor and revise processes and overall workflow quality/quantity.
- Initiate or recommend personnel actions such as hiring, firing, and disciplining for assigned areas.
- Complete performance appraisals and develop/assess performance goals and measures.
- Assist in long-range goal development and assessment for the department.
- Develop and monitor budget for designated areas/processes.
- Support the standards set forth in the DMC's Code of Conduct by fostering an atmosphere of commitment to legal and ethical standards.
- Implement external and internal audit recommendations and monitor activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, JCAHO requirements, and DMC policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree preferred (either bachelor's or master's must be in Nursing).
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.
- Three years of progressive Nursing experience.
