About BEAR Engineering

BEAR Engineering began with a simple yet powerful idea: to provide unmatched expertise, transparency, and empathy in the inspection of homes, foundations, and drainage systems. Co-founders Nathan and Tiffany launched the company in 2010, motivated by their own experience buying a home and encountering significant gaps in the inspection process. They recognized the critical need for independent, unbiased engineering services that homeowners, buyers, and real estate agents could truly trust.

From its origins in Hawaii providing home inspections, structural evaluations, and foundation repair designs, BEAR Engineering rapidly became known for its quality and integrity. Upon moving operations to California, the company pivoted to specialize exclusively in foundation and drainage inspections. Recognizing a large unmet demand and benefiting from relationships with retiring experts in the area, Bear quickly grew into the Bay Area's premier firm in its specialty.

Today, BEAR Engineering stands as the Bay Area's largest and most trusted foundation and drainage inspection company. Our reputation is built on excellence, independence, and an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction. Over 15 years, BEAR has maintained an unmatched record-never receiving a single one-, two-, or three-star review, with only four four-star ratings; all other reviews are five stars. This exceptional reputation reflects our core values, which are central to our identity and continued growth:

  • Purpose and Service: We are passionate about our work because it directly impacts people's lives. Everything we do contributes meaningfully to helping homeowners, homebuyers, and agents.
  • Empathy: We deeply understand the stress, anxiety, and financial implications involved in home ownership. Our reports and inspections are always crafted with compassion and clear understanding of our clients' situations.
  • Positivity: In every interaction-internal and external-we maintain a consistently positive, professional attitude. This approach fosters a rewarding work environment and strong, lasting relationships.
  • Excellence ("Number One"): We strive to be the best. Every inspection, every report, every interaction must be better than the last. Our success has evolved into recognized industry leadership.

Our strict independence sets BEAR Engineering apart: we never perform repairs or remediation work. This ensures our evaluations and recommendations remain fully impartial. Our reports are comprehensive yet straightforward-rich with detailed photographs, clearly written findings, and actionable advice. This clarity, precision, and transparency have become our hallmarks and reasons why clients choose Bear Engineering repeatedly.
