The pharmacist manager will maintain up-to date knowledge and ensure operational compliance with all state, federal and accreditation requirements and maintain oversight of all staff including but not limited to pharmacists and certified pharmacy tech. The manager will ensure integration of process among pharmacy team as well as clinical practice and performance, and continuous quality assurance for all areas of pharmacy operations including proactively identifying areas of opportunity for staff development, operational enhancements, and business acuity.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Reviews, compounds, prepares and/or oversees the compounding of sterile products, preparation and dispensing of pharmaceuticals to patients; makes decisions regarding generic/biosimilar substitution of prescribed pharmaceuticals.
- Consults with patients and/or medical practitioners on drug indications/contraindications, dosage, drug interactions, and side effects; provides other drug and pharmaceutical information as appropriate.
- Establishes and maintains methods and manner of storage and recordkeeping systems to provide for safekeeping and of pharmaceuticals.
- Performs routine quality control testing of equipment, environment and record keeping as required by federal, state, and local regulations.
- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
- Maintain standards of practice and documentation required by accreditation standards, CMS and contractually.
- Provide effective management of drug inventory and pharmacy expenditure.
- Routinely evaluate staff processes for accuracy, productivity, cleanliness, and further integration among departments and/or across the organization.
- Continually assess staff performance and identify areas for intervention and training including educational competencies for all clinical staff.
- Create an environment of accountability and high achievement among staff including annual competency observation and evaluation.
- Identify areas for clinical, customer service and overall performance training and facilitate access thru internal and/or external offerings.
- Ensure ongoing accuracy of system data utilized for financial reporting.
- Analyze and continually develop operational reports to ensure individual staff contribution and consistency in performance for best patient outcome.
- Prepare and present operational reports for daily operations and any significant market events.
- Ensure pharmacy and staff compliance with requirements for Quality Improvement Plans and initiatives including required documentation, tracking and departmental quality meetings.
- Provide oversite of all pharmacy documentation, tracking and reporting capabilities continually evaluating for relevance and appropriateness, accuracy, and consistency.
- Collaborate with business analyst in evaluation and preparation of operational and financial information.
- Provides education, guidance and training to students, pharmacy interns, and or trainees during course of work and monitors performance.
- Collaborate with SVP and Pharmacy Directors regarding PT&D Committee decision and initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned by management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD); Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (BS Pharm)
- Current, active, and unrestricted Tennessee Pharmacy licensure.
- At least 1 additional pharmacy license in another required state(s) or must be completed within 180 days of start date by either examination or reciprocity required.
- Minimum 5 years retail experience and pharmacy management experience.
