A significant opportunity awaits an excellent Manager in our Duncan office collaborating with our Privately Held Business (PHB) Group in our Duncan, Victoria and Courtenay offices. Working side by side with a strong team of well-respected accounting professionals, you will be engaged in a wide variety of interesting financial reporting and taxation matters, advising an excellent range of clients. Our PHB practice offers continual professional development as well as long term growth opportunities to evolve your career. As a Manager, Privately Held Business Group your responsibilities will include:
Leading and executing client engagements under varying reporting frameworks across different industries and sectors but with a focus on Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises ("ASPE")
Contributing to new business development by understanding all Doane Grant Thornton services and by using your credibility in the field
Acting as a leader by actively contributing to the development and execution of the office business plan
Maximizing engagement profitability by effectively utilizing engagement resources
Analysis and review of corporate and personal income tax returns, Compilations, Reviews and special reports
Planning and leading teams to ensure that client expectations are exceeded
Supervision and mentoring of an accounting team, including the review of files
Engaging, coaching and developing talented professionals within the practice to maximize their potential for growth

Strong background with reviewing and leading compilation and review engagements and working with owner managed clients within a public practice scope
Excellent general tax skills and the ability to identify tax issues
Strong people management focus and coaching orientation
Strong personal and professional brand in the marketplace
Being an articulate, inspiring and versatile communicator
Commitment to quality, excellence and continual professional growth for yourself and for those you manage
At least 5 years' experience in public accounting or related industry
Completed CPA designation is required

At Doane Grant Thornton, we're committed to ensuring our compensation practices are fair, equitable and competitive. To get the conversation started, we're happy to share that our current base salary for this role ranges from $80,000 - $90,000 in Duncan, BC. If this role is available in another location(s), the associated salary range in that location(s) may vary based on relevant factors, including geography.
