Overview
Burlington is hiring a Manager, Product Operations, owning the movement, processing and management of goods through their life cycle within stores. This role plays a critical part in store readiness by fostering strong relationships with cross-functional partners including Supply Chain, Labor Allocations, and Process Engineering. Collaboration with these teams lays the groundwork for the role's core mission: supporting store operations. The Manager serves as the primary liaison between stores and corporate partners and the ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader, effective communicator, and strategic thinker with experience in both store operations and logistics at scale.
A major focus of the role is partnering with Field Leadership and Store teams to drive operational excellence. Key responsibilities include developing SOPs, creating clear training materials, and refining merchandise handling processes. The role also involves tracking and analyzing KPIs such as Cartons-Per-Hour (CPH), scan rates, backlog trends, and other productivity measures to inform continuous improvement strategies. Oversight areas include BPOD Freight Processing, Item Disposition, Markdowns, and Backlog Management.
Additionally, this role manages freight processing equipment and supply needs, offering guidance on ideal quantities, maintenance, and replenishment. You will also contribute to annual capital planning and leads testing of new equipment and process innovations.

A Day in the Life:
- Process Innovation & Refinement: Own the freight processing methodology in stores, known as BPOD. Be the ultimate subject matter expert to field questions from stores, develop training and continuous education materials and troubleshoot problems. Draft SOPs and other communications. In addition, this role will continuously analyze processes in order to refine, improve and innovate towards a more productive methodology.
- Strategy: Assess business partner strategies periodically and align with Store Operations leadership. Develop strategic initiative timelines and implementation plans for projects and process changes. Set standards, processes, and tools for in-scope areas to ensure communication, field requests and delivery changes are systematically catalogued and executed. In addition, work with Store Ops teams to design change management strategies.
- Freight Management: Take the lead as a vocal liaison between Supply Chain and stores. Ensure weekly schedules are followed and ad hoc delivery adjustments are clearly communicated. Monitor timeliness of deliveries, manage freight capacity requirements, as well as delivery schedules.
- People development: As applicable, train, coach, and performance manage teams within the function as well as field leaders, and mentor individuals in related functions. Establish internal processes to foster professional growth and capability development to create a high-performing organization. Design training materials and lead training sessions for Store Ops, Field Teams and corporate partners.
- Data Management: Collect, analyze and report data on key performance indicators in relation to delivery efficiency, freight processing productivity, markdowns and item disposition processes. Ability to deduce actions from data and make recommendations, report outliers and partner with pertinent teams to remedy challenges that manifest themselves in the data.
You'll Come With:
- B.A. or equivalent in operations, engineering, finance or related quantitative field
- >5 years of experience in store operations
- >3 years of experience in retail logistics a plus
- >2 years of people management a plus
- Proven ability to drive change in stores at national scale retail
- Experience in developing functional partnerships among diverse stakeholders
- Proficiency in writing SOPs, training documents and communications
- Demonstrated problem solving, people management, and communication skills
