Position: Manager, Property Accounting
Location: Fergus Falls, MN
Salary Range: $95,000 - $146,000 annually (paid bi-weekly)
Type: Full-Time
Remote Option: Hybrid remote work available up to two days per week after 6 months of employment

Position Overview:
Seeking an experienced accounting professional to manage and oversee the accounting and reporting of fixed assets for the utility operations. This role is crucial in maintaining the accuracy of fixed asset system, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, and providing leadership to the property accounting team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the forecasting, accounting, and reporting for utility fixed assets.
  • Maintain and manage the fixed asset system, including capitalization and unitization policies.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Uniform System of Accounts.
  • Lead a team of accounting professionals with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Represent the property accounting function in various meetings and project teams.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience with multiple direct reports.
  • Strong background in utility industry accounting.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and FERC Uniform System of Accounts.
  • Expertise in depreciation methods and practices.
  • Proven ability to lead teams effectively with a continuous improvement mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA certification.
  • Experience in utility industry accounting, specifically within the property function.
  • Experience working with an investor-owned utility.
  • Familiarity with capitalization guidance and practices.
  • Experience with PowerPlan fixed asset software.

  • Annual Key Performance Award up to 6% of base salary, with an additional 3% for people leaders.
