Summary

The Manager of Rail Operations will be responsible for managing and coordinating all rail activities and programs. These include rail car supply issues, rail car forecasting, communications with railroads and TTX, and promoting policies and actions that ensure a safe, accident-free, and productive work environment for all rail employees.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor the rail network and advise upper management as to network issues and possible alternatives
    • Oversee all rail car forecasting from SAVANNAH to include: local rail loading sites 2 week TTX rolling forecasts, local sites forecasting to their servicing railroad
    • Compile needed data to complete and submit the long range TTX national forecast
    • Monitor empty rail car supplies for all loading sites
    • Follow up with the railroads and HQ on any rail car supply issues
    • Develop all rail programs to include: forecasting, network supplies, loading efficiency, rail transit efficiencies, etc
    • Monitor the above programs and provide summaries to upper management as needed
    • Identify issues and develop corrective action plans as necessary
    • Monitor rail policies and procedures for compliance with AAR regulations, update both headquarters staff and field operations as needed
  • Develop and implement rail training programs to support effectiveness and safety, designed to instruct employees with Rail network operations, Safe rail operations at all rail sites
    • Audit training for new rail department employees at GLOVIS sites
    • Maintain records for statistical measurement and conformance to standard practices of the rail industry
    • Prepare and maintain required rail reports - rail car supply fulfillment, forecasting accuracy, etc.)
    • All Other Duties as Assigned

Compensation

$85,000-$100,000/Year (Subject to Compensation Study upon Candidate Selection)

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • 3 - 7 years OR equivalent combination of education and experience Required
  • Prior experience in Rail Operations Required

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit in front of a desk and/or in front of the computer for long periods
  • Repetitive use of hand/grasping product, writing, and typing
