General Summary

The Manger, Tax & Regulatory role's primary responsibility is to monitor legislative and regulatory tax law development and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation. Provide help in minimizing tax risk regarding acquisitions, mergers, and various other business dealings. Ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement an effective regulatory compliance program to ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to monitor compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Stay updated on changes in regulations and communicate potential impacts to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, operations, and quality assurance, to address compliance issues and implement solutions.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports and filings as required including annual reporting, state USF, USAC, TRS, and utility commission reporting.
  • Respond to regulatory inquiries and audits, serving as the primary point of contact.
  • Complete Census Bureau filings and respond to inquiries.
  • Coordinate corporate registration with outside legal and third party registered agents.
  • Provide guidance and training to employees on regulatory requirements and compliance best practices.
  • Provide sales and tax data to third party consultants for the preparation and filing of all tax returns, including corporate and property tax filings.
  • Develop tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Conduct tax research and analysis of complex tax issues, providing guidance and recommendations to senior management.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate potential impact to the organization.
  • Coordinate and manage tax audits, working closely with external auditors and tax authorities.
  • Review and reconcile tax accounts and ensure accuracy in financial reporting related to taxes.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal teams on tax matters, including proper accounting treatment and documentation.
  • Manage all aspects of sales tax compliance, including timely and accurate filing of sales tax and use tax returns.
  • Monitor changes in sales tax laws and regulations and ensure company compliance.
  • Develop and implement strategies to minimize sales tax liabilities and optimize sales tax processes.
  • Review sales transactions and determine appropriate taxability in various jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including accounting, legal, and operations, to ensure accurate sales tax reporting.
  • Respond to inquiries and audits from tax authorities related to sales tax matters.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal stakeholders on sales tax issues and requirements.
  • Adheres to all Company standard procedures, policies and safety practices in the course of performing work activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Law, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, preferably in Telecommunications.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Proven ability to process / analyze large amounts of data; advanced excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability and integrity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions
  • Employee remains in the sitting position for prolonged hours. Employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Working conditions may include being in an open (shared) cubicle/workspace area.
