Job Summary:

The Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for working with the Director in developing, implementing, and managing the company's global trade compliance program. This role ensures adherence to all applicable import and export regulations, minimizing compliance risks, and optimizing trade operations. The Trade Compliance Manager will oversee activities such as tariff classification, customs documentation, licensing, and restricted party screening, while also providing guidance and training to internal stakeholders.

Job Expectations:

Regulatory Compliance:
  • Monitor and interpret changes in global trade laws and regulations (e.g., U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Customs regulations, sanctions, and embargoes).
  • Develop and maintain written trade compliance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable import and export regulations to minimize penalties and fines.

Tariff Classification:
  • Accurately classify products according to the Harmonized System (HS) and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes globally.
  • Maintain a database of product classifications.
  • Provide guidance to internal teams on tariff classification.

Customs Compliance:
  • Work with the Global Logistics team to ensure accuracy of all import and export documentation.
  • Manage requests from customs brokers and freight forwarders.
  • Ensure compliance with customs valuation rules and country-of-origin regulations.
  • Handle customs audits and inquiries.

Sanctions and Embargoes:
  • Conduct restricted party screening to ensure compliance with sanctions and embargoes.
  • Monitor and respond to changes in sanctioned party lists.

Free Trade Agreements (FTAs):
  • Determine product eligibility for preferential treatment under FTAs (e.g., USMCA).
  • Prepare and manage FTA documentation (e.g., certificates of origin).

Training and Communication:
  • Develop and deliver trade compliance training programs for employees.
  • Communicate trade compliance requirements and updates to relevant departments.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on trade-related matters.

Auditing and Risk Management:
  • Conduct internal audits of trade compliance processes.
  • Identify and assess potential trade compliance risks.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.

Technology and Automation:
  • Assist with implementation of trade compliance software solutions.
  • Optimize trade compliance processes through automation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Solid knowledge and experiences in compliance, tariff classification, regulatory review, product compliance.
  • Ability to manage complex issues and develop practical solutions while maintaining discretion and protecting confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build trustworthy relationships with colleagues and business partners, yet maintain a high degree of independence, professional standing and confidentiality.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a solid understanding of commercial processes.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills with a pragmatic "problem-solving" approach
  • Fluent written and verbal English language.
  • Understanding of compliance best practices and typical risk/red flag issues and practices.
  • Knowledge of and experience advising on regulations, tariff schedule, sanctions, and other compliance-related laws and regulations.


Equipment Knowledge:
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred


Experience Requirements:
  • At least 5-7 years of experience working with relevant regulatory policies and laws globally.
  • Working experience in the retail industry is preferred, but not mandatory.


Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field preferred, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience


The anticipated pay scale for this position can be found below, however the pay range applicable to you may vary by geographic location based on where the job is located or where you work. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, education, etc. iHerb, LLC is a multi-state employer and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations.

Hired applicant may be awarded Restrict Stock Units and receive annual bonuses pursuant to eligibility and performance criteria defined in the respective plan documents and policies.

$84,957-$173,775 USD
