Essential Duties
1. Manages and conducts recruitment and assessment study components of all clinical research studies. In conjunction with the PI, develops timelines and protocols. 2. Acts as project manager in studies involving multiple sites. Oversees quality and recruitment, and responsible for organizational planning for all sites. 3. Manages a team of research staff. 4. Develops protocols for sample collection and long term storage in biorepository in studies involving tissue collection. 5. Assists the PIs with budget preparation for grants, tracking of funds, and managing of subcontracts with participating sites. 6. Develops, implements procedures and data quality assurance standards and creates and maintains Manual of Operations for recruitment and assessment, and sample collection components of studies. Prepares and adjusts recruitment and assessment study plans by designing strategies and analyzing relevant data. 7. Prepares IRB submissions, annual re-approvals, and requests for amendments for the Yale IRB as well as applications to other IRBs and governing institutions involved in the studies. 8. Participates in the design of conduct of study reports. Evaluates recruitment and assessment study progress on an ongoing basis. 9. Determines subject's eligibility and acceptability to clinical studies based on the study inclusion and exclusion criteria from screening assessments. 10. Obtains and interprets medical outcome data and clinical test results from other sources: hospitals, physicians' office, and death certificates. 11. Establishes and implements an adverse monitoring protocol if necessary. 12. Prepares educational seminars and material to enhance staff knowledge and awareness of the purpose and value of the study. 13. Organizes retention events, including dinner and luncheon meetings. 14. May perform other duties as assigned.

Position Focus:
The Yale Center for Infection and Immunity has built a collaborative network of both established Yale investigators and junior investigators within and outside Yale with the common goal of improving vaccines, diagnoses, treatments and cures for infectious and autoimmune diseases. Through uniting expertise in clinical, epidemiological, and interventional approaches with fundamental research in immunology, virology, microbiology, genetics and computational sciences, the Center is developing a longitudinal collection of patient samples, immune response profiles, symptomology, and machine learning data. To this end, the Yale CII is recruiting a Scientific Program Manager, to shape and advance these ambitious clinical and research initiatives.
They will work with the CII Director and report directly into the Associate Director to manage the activities of the Center including: member meetings, media relations, patient outreach and communication, symposia, grant writing, fundraising, and grantmaking efforts. Oversee and maintain strong relations between Center collaborators and community partners to enhance diversity, mentorship and professional development. Oversees the advancement and growth of both the clinical and basic research program. Supports the philosophy, mission, strategy, and annual goals and objectives. Assumes primary accountability for disseminating and publishing all program information to create public awareness and support of the program. Identifies, solicits, and cultivates community partnerships and collaborations to assist in development and growth of the program. Develops the metrics to identify and measure the success of the program. Assists in identifying and evaluating potential future funding sources and contributes to the submission of grants and contracts supporting the Center, including the annual submission and writing of all content areas and budgetary sections of grant applications. Develops and manages the program's operating budget and strategizes, develops and implements grantmaking initiatives. Helps to develop the administrative infrastructure of the program. Assists with human resource and administrative functions of the program, including staffing and hiring with input from key stakeholders. Oversees and manages information systems, facilities, and space needs. Investigates, identifies, implements, and oversees the maintenance of systems to gather, track, and report information to support the initiatives of the program. Tracks all program activities and regularly informs leadership of progress on each initiative. Recommends structural or programmatic adjustments, changes or additions based on full knowledge of missions, goals, and objectives. Initiates, designs, and manages the compilation of program communications; identifying outreach potential and promoting philanthropic and collaborative support of the program. Contributes to the development and assists in the management of content on the program's website and monitors all changes and additions to content.
Grant writer, editor, coordinator, and liaison, leading multi-PI Center grant initiatives. Stakeholder engagement, point of contact to NIH Program Officers for Center grants, CII members, non-profit foundations and patients. Coordinate scientific initiatives within and between the department and other departments, tracking progress, organizing project meetings, recording minutes and action items, ensuring timely submission of progress reports to sponsors. Coordinate with and support faculty in fundraising efforts through preparation of presentations to private donors working closely with the Yale's Development Office and Office of Cooperative Research Drive federal, industry, state and biomedical grant initiatives. Oversee and advance public relations to enhance the CII's profile within and outside of Yale through content creation and management of multiple social media platforms.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Advanced degree or relevant certification (Ph.D., RN, PMP) with 3-5 years of experience in project management, with priority to candidates with clinical research or grant writing experience.
