Professional Practice Group (PPG)

The team that forms the Professional Practice Group (PPG) is made of professional accountants who have strong technical skills and several years of practical experience. The objective of the Professional Practice is to ensure the quality of the services rendered in assurance by the firm in terms of ethics, independence, training, methodology and financial reporting. To do this, PPG has developed a unique approach to provide our professionals with high-level training and support in the application of our audit methodology. PPG is also involved in all matters relating to ethics and independence.

Furthermore, PPG through its Financial Reporting Advisory Services group, directly assists clients and professionals dealing with complex accounting issues (e.g. business combinations, hedge relationships, variable interest entities) and with audit questions relating to clients in particular, the conversion from GAAP to IFRS or the financial reporting obligations of public companies.

The Professional Practice group also manages all aspects of professional staff training and is responsible for developing the firm's audit methodology, as well as training, implementation, and monitoring.

A day in the life of a Manager, Audit (PPG)

  • Coordinate sections of our quality management systems, lead the annual risk assessment process, participate in the monitoring and remediation activities, prepare root cause analyses.
  • Participate in the analysis and documentation of ethical and independence matters,
  • Participate in the development, implementation and support of the audit strategy,
  • Assist in the preparation and facilitation of various training and courses on GAAP updates and GAAS updates to professionals of the firm;
  • Participate in internal consulting services (organize them, direct them and carry out research) to determine the appropriate accounting treatment for certain transactions, in accordance with various GAAP, including ASPE, IFRS and US GAAP;
  • Assist in the quality control review of financial statements;
  • Assist in the provision of financial reporting advisory services to assist non-assurance clients in accounting for particular complex transactions (for example, convertible debentures, business combinations, depreciation etc.);
  • Monitor the activities of all accounting standard-setting bodies (ie. FASB, SEC, AICPA, EITF, IASB, CPA Canada etc.) and evaluate the impacts of any change in the firm's clientele;
  • Provide support in the resolution of complex accounting problems;
  • Participate in the development of sectoral guidelines on accounting and auditing.


What we are looking for:

  • CPA auditor designation;
  • Applicable for managers and senior managers only;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English;
  • Strong technical knowledge of ASPE;
  • Good understanding of the Richter Audit Approach;
  • Interest for Quality Management;
  • Desire to train various professionals and facilitate learning sessions;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner;
  • Team spirit;
  • Willingness to offer high quality services to internal and external clients;
