Description:

This manager oversees the activities of the Project and Program Management Department and its staff. Provides overall direction to projects including partnering, planning, developing, siting, permitting, procurement, budgeting, scheduling, bidding/contracting, and other activities to ensure timely, efficient, quality and cost-effective project completion.

Develops and implements project implementation goals that support overall project execution. Leads and develops individuals and teams by using people management processes and tools that involve staffing, training, supervising, coaching, and performance management to achieve optimal performance.

Major Accountabilities:
Project Management: Oversee projects to ensure financial performance and risk objectives are met.

Project Implementation: Lead the execution of projects and programs, including developing timelines, budgets, contracts, metrics, and reports. Coordinate activities across internal business areas and external partners, and provide updates to executives and stakeholders.
Team Development: Build and develop a high-performing team through coaching, feedback, recognition, training, and development opportunities.

Contract Management: Oversee the development, performance, and administration of contracts, ensuring adherence to terms, conditions, and corporate policies.

Budget Management: Prepare and oversee operating budgets, monitor spending, and address variances. Manage project risks and report on capital cash flows and budget adherence.
Safety Program: Enforce an effective safety program for contract firms and employees.
Project Leadership: Direct all project and program activities to ensure professional and technical competency, and compliance with specifications, standards, and codes
Work Environment: Foster a work environment where employees are encouraged to participate and contribute to the department's goals.
Stakeholder Relationships: Develop and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders and external partners, including research firms, vendors, and peer utilities.

Continuous Improvement: Conduct post-implementation reviews and analyses to assess project success and identify opportunities for improvement.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, finance or business, or related field.

8 years related experience in project management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

True project management experience with process improvement and focus

At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role

Local to Arizona (we can talk about relocation packages if they are located in nearby states)

Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with all levels of internal and external stakeholders (referrals are crucial for this role)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience in the utility industry
