Description:
As the Manager-IT Business Applications, you lead a team of technical staff that supports the acquisition and use (entire lifecycle) of various software products used to run the administrative functions of the Carrix enterprise. You play tactical and strategic roles, ensuring the planning and execution of tasks and projects while contributing to broader strategic objectives. In the spirit of continuous improvement, you identify, recommend, implement, and support new technology solutions.
As a manager, you apply your proven leadership skills to support your team in accomplishing team-oriented and individual development goals. You excel in leading and executing projects and are adept at prioritizing work efforts and balancing day-to-day tasks with longer-term strategic efforts. To optimize team performance, you work to ensure all employees have the resources and guidance required to complete key activities and serve as a role model, elevating the Carrix business through the delivery of fit-for-purpose technology.
The portfolio for this position includes systems associated with HR, union time/labor processing, document/OCR functions, and various other tools and platforms. In addition, you will oversee the maintenance and support of our legacy AS400 financials system until it is archived later in the year.

- Work with business partners and other stakeholders to identify, recommend, procure, develop, implement, and support cost-effective software-based solutions that can be used locally and/or internationally.
- Integrate, or ensure integration of, existing and new applications.
- Participate in IT strategic planning, providing specific insights related to applications services.
- Ensure system uptime, adherence to Service Level Agreements, and alignment with business needs.
- Manage vendor relationships, keep systems on supported versions, and manage licenses
- Manage and provide day-to-day direction to staff supporting applications and related solutions.
- Develop end-user support strategies, including the support model, user training, documentation, and self-service solutions.
- Analyze and resolve problems with all enterprise solutions.
- Identify opportunities to rationalize the overall application portfolio, reducing redundancies and costs.
- Ensure collaboration between analysts, engineers, designers, and others in testing new technology solutions and applications.
- Support the hiring, training, and development of staff.
- Support the performance management of applications staff, including completing performance reviews and providing coaching and development opportunities.
- Manage customer expectations and cultivate advantageous internal partnerships.

- Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years' relevant work experience.
- Strong experience developing staff, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Strong experience with IT frameworks, practices, and processes (i.e., project management, ITIL, etc.).
- Ability to adapt to change quickly and work comfortably with ambiguity.
- Strong interpersonal skills, readily connecting with others, and building and sustaining relationships at multiple levels in the organization.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proven experience in managing business-oriented IT applications
- Expert familiarity with various commercial software systems and tools, application administration, and how they integrate into the overall IT environment
- Expert ability to use influence and empathy to break down silos between teams.
- Ability to interact with Carrix personnel, build strong relationships at all levels and across all business units and organizations, and understand business imperatives.
- Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and execute work efficiently.
- Proven ability to apply analytical skills to investigate information and draw conclusions.
- Proven ability to use leading communication skills to translate complex technical information in a concise manner to various stakeholders, verbally and in writing.
- Proven ability to manage own and team workloads, oversee the work of employees, and provide constructive criticism/feedback, and delegate tasks.
- Proven ability to understand complex, technical information and use advanced problem-solving skills to solve challenges in the most advantageous way for the business.
- Expert ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate one.

Work Environment:
- Exposure to computer screens.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Required hybrid work schedule, at least 3 days/week in office.
- Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment, or remotely from home.
