VIOTAS is an Irish company currently operating in Ireland, Australia, the US are scaling globally and currently hiring a Managing Director to lead the VIOTAS Texas business. As the Managing Director for VIOTAS in the ERCOT market, you will be responsible for establishing and growing the company's presence in Texas. This includes overseeing all aspects of business strategy, regulatory engagement, commercial operations, customer acquisition, and team development. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the ERCOT electricity market, demand response mechanisms, and energy management solutions, with a proven track record in business leadership, regulatory affairs, and commercial execution. The core team in Texas will be supported across a number of functions from the global HQ.

About VIOTAS:
Established in Limerick, Ireland in 2013, VIOTAS set about designing and delivering new innovations to address the challenges posed by increased renewable generation in electrical grids: How can a grid be balanced when a large amount of electricity is coming from unpredictable renewable sources that are difficult to forecast and that change the fundamental principles of how grids operate?
In response, VIOTAS developed proprietary technologies that place electricity customers at the core of the solution. By managing their electricity consumption and onsite generation in real-time, VIOTAS help balance the wider electricity grid. The company then aggregates participating customers to form Virtual Power Plants which are traded in the electricity market, competing against conventional fossil fuel power stations. This approach not only generates significant revenue for participating customers but also contributes to reducing carbon emissions. With a global expansion strategy, VIOTAS, currently with over 110 staff, operates in Ireland, Poland, USA and Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

• Market Entry & Expansion: Lead the strategic market entry and expansion plan for VIOTAS in Texas, ensuring alignment with the company's global vision and objectives.
• Business Development & Sales: Develop and execute commercial strategies to acquire large energy consumers, secure strategic partnerships, and grow VIOTAS' demand response portfolio in ERCOT.
• Operations & Service Delivery: Oversee the deployment and performance of VIOTAS' demand response technology, ensuring seamless integration with ERCOT market requirements and customer needs.
• Financial Management: Establish and manage the budget, financial targets, and P&L for the Texas operations, driving revenue growth and profitability inline with targets setout by the Senior Leadership Team.
• Regulatory & Industry Engagement: Engage with ERCOT, PUCT, utilities, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to advocate for demand response programs and shape favorable market conditions.
• Team Leadership & Culture: Build, lead, and develop a high-performing local team, fostering a results-driven and customer-centric culture.
• Collaboration with HQ: Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team in Ireland to align on strategy, product development, and best practices.
• Reporting: Prepare and present detailed operational and financial reports periodically to the VIOTAS Board
• Growth: Maximizing the long-term profitability of the company for the benefit of its shareholders,
• Governance: Ensuring that the company remains compliant with all legal and regulatory obligations.

Essential Requirements:

• Extensive leadership experience in the ERCOT electricity market, demand response, or energy management industry.
• Strong leadership experience in managing business operations, regulatory affairs, or commercial functions within the energy sector.
• Proven track record of market entry, business development, and revenue growth in energy services or technology companies.
• In-depth knowledge of ERCOT market rules, demand response programs, and grid services.
• Established network with ERCOT stakeholders, utilities, regulators, and large energy users.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in managing budgets and achieving commercial targets.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; possesses strong organization and prioritization skills
• Ability to build and nurture strong, trusting and productive working relationships with colleagues, customers, system operators, regulatory authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to represent the company to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-growing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.
• Experience in launching a new business or expanding an energy services company in North America.
• Familiarity with demand response technology solutions and energy trading.
