POSITION OVERVIEW

The primary role of the Manufacturing Cost Accountant is to collect, analyze and report on cost accounting data. This includes preparing standard cost reports, monitoring inventory levels, cost comparisons, product costing analysis, tracking variances and making journal entries. You will collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate budgeting & forecasting processes, along with identifying cost-efficient solutions to inefficiency issues and/or processes throughout the enterprise.

The Cost Accountant will work closely with across the organization, including all VNI Entities (MDI & WDP) to adjust Bills of Materials (BOM's).

OBJECTIVES OF ROLE
  • Develop strategies to reduce costs and study product pricing to ensure the best possible return on investment for the company.
  • Prepare budgeting reports by collecting information and data points from various departments within the organization.
  • Investigate discrepancies in financial records and perform month-end close activities including journal entries & reconciliations.

HIGH-LEVEL TASKS

  • Examine costs of production to determine the most efficient methods of production
  • Ensure accurate classification of expenses under Accounting Practices for Private Enterprise (ASPE)
  • Research material costs to ensure the accuracy of the information in the company's accounting system.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs and to identify variance recommendation for remedy.
  • Oversee the physical inventory count process to ensure the accuracy of inventory records.
  • Monitor the accumulation of all direct labour, overhead and other manufacturing-related expenses.

  • Experience with ERP, preferably Microsoft D365
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications. (excellent with excel) - Skills with verbal and data presentation of financial information


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Relevant post-secondary education. I.E. Bachelor's degree in accounting, a designated accountant.
  • 4-6 years cost & project accounting experience.
  • Project analysis, reporting and invoicing.
  • Ability to manipulate, analyze, and perform reconciliation activities with large volumes of data utilizing MS Excel.
