Job Summary:

RPO is seeking a motivated and driven Manufacturing Engineering Manager who will be responsible for planning, organizing and directing manufacturing engineering to meet company objectives for production yields, tooling, fixturing and test equipment design, new product implementation and improvement of existing product lines by application of Lean principles. This individual will also lead our automation team to design, develop, and implement automated systems and machinery to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency factory wide. You Will:
  • Lead and manage the manufacturing engineering team, providing guidance, mentoring, and training to ensure the team's success and professional growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall operational performance.
  • Lead and manage the automation engineering team, ensuring the delivery of new process equipment and automation solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, production, and quality assurance, to develop and implement new products or processes.
  • Manage and oversee the implementation of new equipment, technologies, and automation systems to enhance manufacturing capabilities and efficiency.
  • Direct the review of production costs and product quality and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
  • Recommend budgets to management, including staff utilization, technology, facility and equipment requirements or improvements.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source and evaluate new technologies, materials, and equipment to improve manufacturing processes and reduce costs.
  • Work closely with Engineering team to ensure new products can be manufactured within Design to Cost models. Provide design recommendations for produce ability and cost reductions.
  • Be responsible for product transition from engineering prototypes to low rate and large-scale production including; workflow design, test equipment and fixtures, and creation of assembly work instructions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to resolve complex manufacturing issues, troubleshoot problems, and optimize production output.


You Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or relevant field).
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in precision machining, injection molding, assembly, or optics.
  • Leadership qualities and a minimum of 8 years' experience leading others or equivalent experience including lean manufacturing methodology and its implementation.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in design, build, and debug of complex electrical & mechanical systems.
  • High mechanical aptitude and ability to create and interpret detailed mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge of relevant computer applications, including SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Project, Excel, etc.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Epicor or equivalent MRP/ERP
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Mechanical understanding of stamping presses, feeders, straighteners, tool room, and other support equipment.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with regulation and codes (OSHA, UL, CE, ANSI, etc.).

Environment & Physical Demands:
  • Professional manufacturing environment with some use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machine; noise level typical of a standard office environment
  • Prolonged standing, computer and telephone use, as well as sitting, filing, bending, reaching and lifting and carrying up to 15 pounds
  • Exposure to manufacturing plant floor requiring the use of personal protective equipment (ear plugs, safety glasses, etc.)
