Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer:
- Manage activities of cost reduction projects - write AFE update reports
- Monitor and improve machine process, develop work instructions and train employees
- Participate in implementing safety improvements
- Evaluates and improves manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs
- Assist in determining root cause and provide corrective action with customer product complaints
- Participate in projects that support in reducing downtime and scrap
- Organize, plan, and commission new or modified production lines
- Investigate operational problems affecting production in a systematic and methodical manner
- Validate implemented manufacturing process improvements to ensure desired results and sustainability
- Develop appropriate manufacturing process documentation for integration into the company's quality system
- Provide training to operators, supervisors, managers on new or modified processes
- Assist Maintenance in identifying and resolving problems, including performing preventative maintenance activities as needed
- Participate in Kaizen events. Understand factors contributing to KPI's and identify areas of improvement
- Stay current with industry standards and emerging technologies to recommend and implement new systems or equipment
- Other duties, as assigned
Requirements of the Manufacturing Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (preferably manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial engineering)
- 3+ years of relevant experience in an engineering role in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality improvement methods, including Lean Manufacturing concepts
- Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work both alone/with minimal supervision and in team environment
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis and FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis)
- Excellent computer and data analysis skills. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD or SolidWorks, and CMMS systems. Experience with statistical & data analysis tools (such as Minitab) is also highly preferred
