Reports to: Plant Manager
Cooperates with: Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing
Primary Responsibility: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance production capabilities. This role will play a key part in driving continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing workflows, and integrating new manufacturing technologies within MIRATECH's steel manufacturing operations.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, improve, and document manufacturing processes by analyzing product designs, work methods, and production workflows.
Develop standard work procedures and best practices to maintain consistency and efficiency in production.
Increase manufacturing efficiency by optimizing work cell layouts, space utilization, and equipment use.
Evaluate and implement automation, tooling, and process enhancements to improve throughput and reduce waste.
Provide technical support for manufacturing operations, troubleshooting issues and implementing corrective actions.
Analyze production labor and material costs to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies and equipment that enhance productivity.
Train production personnel on new manufacturing techniques, processes, and equipment operation.
Support capital expenditure projects, including justification, selection, and implementation of new equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field).
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a sheet metal welding shop.
Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement and cost reduction.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for process and layout design.
Working Knowledge of ERP software
Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects and work with minimal supervision.
Proficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
