About the Role
The manufacturing engineer will focus on improving manufacturing processes, efficiency, and cost savings while ensuring quality enhancements. This role will support and lead continuous improvement efforts, lean manufacturing initiatives, and process optimizations within a manufacturing cell environment. The primary objective is to reduce labor costs, minimize scrap, improve quality, and enhance plant efficiency.

About the Role

This role will support and lead continuous improvement efforts, lean manufacturing initiatives, and process optimizations within a manufacturing cell environment. The primary objective is to reduce labor costs, minimize scrap, improve quality, and enhance plant efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a 5S program to enhance workplace organization and efficiency
- Plan and lead kaizen events to drive continuous improvement
- Support plant operations to ensure KPIs are met, including labor costs, quality metrics, and scrap reduction
- Lead capital expenditure projects, including determining equipment needs and overseeing implementation
- Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action for manufacturing non-conformances
- Develop work instructions, standard work, and process flows to optimize operations
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures by analyzing and improving current processes
Required:
- Experience with 5S implementation and sustaining lean initiatives
- Proven experience leading kaizen events and continuous improvement projects
- Ability to analyze and improve manufacturing KPIs, including cost savings, scrap reduction, and quality improvements
- Experience with capital expenditure project planning and execution
- Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, electrical, or manufacturing preferred) or equivalent experience
- Three or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering, continuous improvement, or quality engineering
- Kaizen leadership experience and fabrication/assembly process improvement
- Value stream mapping experience
- Mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing setting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to travel (less than 10%) as needed
