Summary
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. Plan, direct, or coordinate the operations of public or private sector organizations, overseeing multiple departments or locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
List the primary essential job duties and responsibilities.
- Coordinates with engineering to implement and monitor new manufacturing and assembly processes that fully support Quality and Business plans
- Establish or implement departmental policies, goals, objectives or procedures that align with corporate policies and strategy
- Create lean and 5W training for supervisors and shop techs.
- Establish training for shop techs to help grow and develop the team
- Develop and maintain quality control measures and procedures
- Review installation manuals and/or correspond with the manufacturer to ensure requirements are met when installing purchased equipment.
- Work with Design Engineering to ensure designed components and systems are installed as required.
- Collaborate with production to produce the most efficient process for installing truck mounted equipment.
- Document designs using 3D solid (SolidWorks) and 2D drafting software (AutoCAD).
- Generate manuals for designed equipment as required.
- Maintain revision control on controlled documents.
- Collaborate with sales staff to ensure that customer equipment expectations are met and create sales support drawings.
- Evaluate weight and balance issues for road worthiness and crane stability.
- Evaluate designs based on applicable regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct pre-build reviews with production staff as required.
- Document and communicate modifications to purchased devices (e.g. cranes, aerial devices, etc.) with manufacturer.
- Assist Production with floor-level decision making, development of work processes and tools.
- Maintain revision control on drawings and other controlled documents.
- Develop sources for required hardware and systems.
- Analyze product failures, develop repairs and redesign accordingly.
- Observe Compliance, Quality Process and Safety with process development.
- Perform personnel functions, such as selection, training, or evaluation.
- Manage the movement of goods into and out of production facilities to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, or sustainability of operations.
- Responsible for overseeing and ensuring accurate process work instructions that meet internal and external customer requirements
- Devises strategies to make production more efficient
- Responsible for floor layouts to improve flow and efficiency through shop processes
- Adhere to all company safety standards

- Communicates clearly and effectively.
- Demonstrates ability to think creatively and innovatively to devise new production strategies.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Industrial Management, or related field required or equivalent experience.
- At least ten years of related experience required.
Working Conditions
- Ability to stand/sit for long periods.
- Must also be able to bend, stoop, or crouch in uncomfortable positions to reach different parts
Physical Requirements
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling 25/50/80 pounds regularly
- The ability to respond quickly to sounds
- The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
- The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
- Be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl throughout an 8-12-hours per day
- The ability to work in extreme weather
- The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day
