Summary
This position leads the Manufacturing Engineering team and is accountable for the development, evaluation, documentation, and improvement of the manufacturing processes to ensure that the company goals for safety, quality, delivery, cost and growth are achieved.
Responsibilities
Direct and supervise a team of technical professionals (Manufacturing Engineers, Industrial Engineers and Technicians)
Assign tasks and projects, and monitor performance to achieve goals. This includes setting team and individual objectives to drive improvements.
Develop, evaluate, improve and document manufacturing processes for repeatability that meet or exceed company quality, cost, cycle-time and safety requirements (including an emphasis on leveraging lessons learned)
Provide leadership in data driven, root cause analysis to resolve technical problems and continuously improve the existing production methods to remove waste, mistake proof and optimize the process
Promote and coordinate Design for Assembly/Manufacturing reviews together with other cross functional departments
Establish process guidelines and document best practices with the aim to have these standardized across all regions
Collaborate with design engineering through a stage gate product development process to launch new products on time and on budget that meet both the customers' and business' needs
Plan and forecast to insure adequate plant equipment and personnel are in place in order to meet budget, forecast, quality and customer production levels. Initiate, justify, and implement capital equipment, as required
Work closely with quality to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for Manufacturing Engineering employees
Develop and implement OEE Action Plans
Eliminate roadblocks such as capacity increase and demand variation to meet demand
Train and certify Machine Setters on preventative maintenance and documentation
Model cooperation and teamwork
Give feedback to manufacturing engineers on routing issues
Responsible for accuracy of equipment and tooling
Participate in problem solving/cross functional teams
Create, Review and approve WPI's
Investigate, record and prepare safety incident reports, and reinforce safety behaviors
Ensure a safe working environment
Police PPE procedures
Understand what tooling is being consumed and react to abnormalities
Ensures manufacturing practices are current, consistent and compliant with GSS Policies and Procedures, all external state/federal regulations and customer requirements
Responsible for mentoring and developing engineers (problem solving techniques, project management, capital justifications, etc)
Responsible for executing Capital plan on time and on budget
Responsible for creating and executing continuous improvement projects to meet annual goals
