The Digital Technology team and Collins Aerospace is seeking a Manufacturing Execution Systems specialist to help drive the transformation of our factories to a fully automated and digital system to drive shop floor manufacturing efficiency and an improved end user experience.

Collins Aerospace is undergoing many major projects including the implementation of Manufacturing Execution Systems, Product Life Cycle Management Solutions, ERP, and middleware applications. These applications include Solumina (MES), Team Center (PLM), SAP (ERP), and Thingworx (Middleware).

The ideal candidate must have a passion for learning, willingness to lead, and have the capacity to define and solve complex business problems using the latest Industry technology and applications. This individual will work remotely.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Analyze Manufacturing Execution System (MES) data needs for the plant(s) to align the development, implementation and configuration of MES applications.
  • Work directly with various Digital Project team leaders to deploy Solumina globally.
  • Daily contact with business users at the manufacturing facilities, including the gathering of requirements in order to provide solutions targeted at improving quality and operator efficiency.
  • Gather technical and functional requirements through blueprinting workshops with our business customers.
  • Create system technical and functional documentation in support of Solumina GAP requirements.
  • Develop best business process documentation to define standard shop floor standard procedures.
  • Perform cross functional coordination with Manufacturing, Quality, and Business teams.
  • Lead and coordinate MES Training sessions with business unit customers
  • Ability to support multiple project managers on various MES and ERP implementations
  • Willingness to work off hours in support of planned outages for system maintenance
  • Create/modify XML integration messages between MES and Middleware applications
  • Demonstrated ability to create and drive Project Planning documentation
  • Production System support as needed.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
  • 5 years of experience in shop floor operations or MES implementations
  • Experience working in a segregated global team
  • Willingness and ability to learn on the job as required. Candidate must have the ability to obtain and apply technical knowledge related to system infrastructure, ERP, and MES systems
  • Possess great communication skills
  • Experience with the Solumina MES system
  • Understanding of Team Center PLM system
  • Passion for learning cutting edge Digital Technology applications and processes
  • Exceptional communication skills with cultural awareness to work with International teams
  • Knowledge of integration middleware such as Thingworx and Kepware
  • Understanding of SAP Production Master Data (BOM/Routing/Work Center/DIR)
  • Desire to learn infrastructure management and application hosting


Preferred Qualifications:
  • In Depth Knowledge of relation databases
  • Have a good understanding of basic functionality of the following: Server functionality and basic setup, network configurations, components and functionality, Enterprise application structure and configuration, Oracle and MSSQL structures and concepts.
  • Have some understanding and familiarity of: Linux command language for RHEL server, Server 2016 features and configuration, Oracle and MSSQL, T-SQL basic query creation, java script, batch, power shell, shell script, SharePoint configuration, Remote Desktop System
  • Experience in large scale Aerospace discrete manufacturing processes
  • 3 Years Manufacturing Engineering experience
