NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada's first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begins production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. The manufacturing facility will have an annual targeted production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.

This state-of-the-art facility will be the first of its kind in Canada and is being built with the goal of becoming the foremost battery hub in North America. As a Manufacturing Intelligence Engineer, your main responsibilities revolve around designing, developing, optimizing, and overseeing manufacturing processes related to smart factory for various applications. In this position, you will learn to compose an engineering team from the ground up in a new dynamic EV Battery Industry. Additionally, you will solve problems through improving chronic defects and process capability for major quality items.

Responsibilities:
  • Establish manufacturing automation systems and modules such as cell tracking, roll mapping, autonomous system.
  • Establish and develop production systems such as SPC, FDC, and RMS, and utilize them to improve production.
  • Develop a system to improve defects and increase quality yield.
  • Analyze Productivity, Yield and Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) of assigned process and department.
  • Work with engineers and operators to troubleshoot the machines on the production floor to ensure highest yield and OEE.
  • Analyze quality issues to provide corrective actions.
  • Improve production processes by creating various SOPs and train operators to ensure understanding and correct implementation to floor.
  • Maintain communication between department co-workers and manage production flow from one process to the next.
  • Prepare and participate daily, weekly, and monthly meetings with other teams.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in any engineering major is preferred (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, etc.).
  • Bachelor's degree in math, physics, statistics, or related field helpful but not required.
  • MS Office tool-based report writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with individuals and teams across the company to achieve team goals and targets.
  • Computational Skills, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and statistical knowledge.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or Science preferred.
  • 3 or more years of manufacturing industrial experience (Especially, lithium-ion batteries industry).
  • Engineering certificates preferred.
  • Knowledge of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Control Plan (CP) preferred.
