Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Manufacturing Manager to oversee the operations of our 24-hour batch chemical manufacturing facility. This critical role will manage both the manufacturing and shipping/receiving departments while ensuring the production of high-quality products in a safe, cost-effective, and timely manner. The ideal candidate will bring at least 10 years of experience in managing manufacturing operations and will play a key role as part of our management team.
As a Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for collaborating with various departments including Supply Chain, Plant Scheduler, Plant Engineer, Customer Service, and Laboratory to meet customer demands while adhering to regulatory and safety standards such as ISO 9000, RMP, and PSM. Your leadership will ensure smooth operations, continuous improvement, and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage 24-Hour Operations: Oversee and direct daily operations of the batch chemical manufacturing process, ensuring seamless manufacturing and shipping/receiving activities across all shifts.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Lead compliance with safety and quality standards including ISO 9000, Risk Management Plan (RMP), and Process Safety Management (PSM), ensuring the facility is operating safely and meeting all regulatory requirements.
  • Safety & Quality Assurance: Champion safety initiatives to maintain a safe work environment, reduce risk, and ensure the consistent production of high-quality products. Implement and monitor safety protocols and best practices to minimize hazards.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and develop manufacturing staff, including operators and supervisors, to enhance productivity, teamwork, and employee engagement. Lead regular performance reviews, training, and skill development.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with Supply Chain, Plant Scheduler, Plant Engineer, Customer Service, and Laboratory to ensure timely production, inventory management, and product quality to meet customer requirements and demand forecasts.
  • Cost Management & Efficiency: Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining product quality and safety standards. Develop and implement cost control measures, optimizing resources and minimizing waste.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other best practices to streamline processes, improve productivity, and enhance operational performance.
  • Inventory & Supply Chain Management: Work with Supply Chain/Purchasing to help drive inventory control. Oversee shipping, and receiving processes, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of raw materials and finished goods to meet production and customer requirements.


Qualifications:
  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in chemical manufacturing or a related field, with a proven track record in managing large-scale operations, including batch production and shipping/receiving processes.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing) are a plus.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of ISO 9000, Risk Management Plan (RMP), Process Safety Management (PSM), and other industry standards. Understanding of chemical manufacturing processes and related regulatory compliance.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop a diverse team, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners to drive results.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with manufacturing software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with manufacturing control systems and automation is a plus.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications: Certified in ISO 9000, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other relevant certifications.
  • Industry Experience: Prior experience in the batch chemical manufacturing industry is preferred.


Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to industrial equipment and chemicals.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds as required.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and be available for rotating shifts if required.
