This position will have overall responsibility for the safety, quality, productivity, cost, training, and environmental aspects of the line with an emphasis on maximizing profitability of the line. Integrating people, processes, and products come together at this level.
Essential Duties and Specific Responsibilities
Qualifications
Experience - 5 to 8+ years of experience in paper manufacturing with production/process engineering and supervisory experience OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Competencies - Strong skills in process information systems (PI, DCS, Excel, etc.). Experience with web inspection and break detection systems a plus.
Education - Bachelor's degree in pulp and paper, engineering, or related technical area.

Essential Duties and Specific Responsibilities
- Observe employee and equipment performance daily with emphasis on elimination of unsafe acts and hazards
- Engage operators through ensuring strong training systems, troubleshooting guides, standard operating procedures, operator basic care rounds, and process capable quality systems
- Drive improvement in safety, customer quality, productivity, and cost reduction performance
- Improve operations by identifying and leading problem solving and project implementation efforts
- Build and monitor performance to budgets and productivity standards
- Scrutinize paper quality to ensure product meets customers' needs and assist in proper disposition of product with an emphasis on building real-time disposition systems
- Monitor equipment availability and performance working closely with support areas to plan equipment repairs and developing preventative maintenance and reliability programs
- Investigate, recommend, and implement new equipment and procedures to ensure world-class performance and best practice compliance
- Effectively work with suppliers and service groups to support and improve operations
