The Opportunity
The Marine Standards Manager oversees the efficient operations of a fleet of supply, and transport vessels. As the Designated Person Ashore (DPA), the ideal candidate will have experience with Marine operations and a strong HSE background.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Vessel Operations Oversight:
- Support vessel operations by overseeing, vessel maintenance, safety, navigation, and crew management, to provide the Operations Manager with functional and fit vessels and crew.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, industry standards, and international conventions.
- Educate and keep team members informed of upcoming changes and support any process management for changes.
Safety and Quality Assurance:
- Support HSE team with safety management systems, conduct risk assessments, and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Understand operational budgets, with a focus on expense analysis and optimized cost savings.
Crew Management:
- Work with the HR team and project operations to coordinate crewing activities, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and ensuring proper certifications and competence levels.
Vessel Inspections and Surveys:
- In collaboration with the vessel's ship management, arrange and oversee vessel inspections, surveys, and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Technical Operations Support:
- Support vessel's ship management in ensuring that various aspects of ship management, including maintenance, repairs, and logistics are performed timely.
Vendor and Contractor Management:
- Engage and manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and service providers for ship maintenance and repairs, crewing, Transport Canada and other applicable services.
Inventory and Procurement:
- Oversee inventory levels, manage spare parts, and coordinate procurement activities for necessary equipment and supplies.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and ensure documentation compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
Performance Monitoring:
- Monitor the performance of crew, ensuring efficiency and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify areas for improvement in ship management processes and implement enhancements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Other Duties:
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support overall project success.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in marine operations and HSE management.
- Strong knowledge of Transport Canada regulations and marine safety practices.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Marine certifications combined with marine experience (DPA, SVOP, SVMO, or equivalent) will preferred.
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
- Previous proven sailing experience as Master Mariner preferred
Working Conditions
- Potential repetitive, physical activity involved (walking, kneeling, reaching, lifting)
- Lifting light to medium weight (up to 20 too 50lbs)
- Exposure to environmental elements including extreme weather conditions
