Job Description
The City of Dickinson is seeking a dynamic and passionate Marketing and Events Director to plan, promote, and manage city and community events. Under the general direction of the City Administrator, this role requires strong organizational skills, independent decision-making, and the ability to create engaging experiences that enhance community involvement.
Salary: $77,283.56 - $85,327.30 per year, depending on qualifications
Schedule: Monday - Friday, with some nights and weekends as needed

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute special events, including logistics, promotion, and volunteer coordination.
  • Supervise event staff and volunteers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Develop and manage the events budget, monitor expenditures, and adjust as needed.
  • Negotiate contracts, obtain necessary permits, and liaise with vendors.
  • Create promotional materials, press releases, and advertisements for local and statewide media.
  • Collaborate with city departments and local businesses to foster community engagement.
  • Oversee downtown beautification efforts, such as public seating and floral displays.
  • Present event outcomes and reports to City Commission and management.
  • Ensure compliance with city policies and procedures for facility use.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Studies, Economic Development, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Three years of experience in event coordination.
  • Strong marketing, fundraising, and grant-writing skills are a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Must hold a valid North Dakota Driver's License or obtain one within 30 days of hire.
