Requisition Type: Contingent Position Status: Full Time Position Title: Material Control Technician Location: Buckley Space Force Base, Aurora, CO Security Clearance Level: Secret Duties and Responsibilities Duties include the following: * Provides supply operation support pertaining to specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts requiring unusual degrees of protection in shipment and storage, or other items that are unique to the organization's mission or are seldom handled. * Conducts extensive searches for information pertaining to complex and/or unusual supply transactions and patterns. * Researches databases/publications to extract data, problems surfaced by customers, and resolves issues or routes findings to appropriate analysts. * Inputs screening requests to obtain logistics data on existing national stock numbers. * Consolidates input from different sources for batch input. Analyzes interrelationships of data in different databases to ensure consistency and accuracy. * Provides supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for equipment and/or parts requiring special handling. * Responds to specific case requests from offices/individuals desiring additional identification data, verification, and/or comparison of one-of-a-kind item or when deviations from normal supply procurement and acquisition programs are required. * Reviews requisitions, supporting documents, and reference material to determine if priority supply action is required, the status of the action, changes in requirements, and unexpected requirements. * Expedites delivery of urgently required items through correspondence and/or telephone calls to inventory control points, manufacturers, or other organizations. * Coordinates actions with transportation, production, or other supply units. * Determines and establishes new procedures needed to accommodate unique program requirements. * Writes internal technical procedures and instructs others as necessary to ensure all requirements and deadlines are met. * Determines stock level needs for non-recurring, specialized items based on usage, inventory, project demands, seasonal demands, changing customer needs, and projected depletion. * Conducts extensive and exhaustive research of catalog databases and information to locate more cost effective available substitutes and new products. * Completes complex requisitions and prepares recurring and special reports. * Identifies potential discrepancies and resolves those which involve special program requirements for urgent, critical shortage items requiring specialized procedures and efforts. * Researches manuals, regulations, plans, and other directives for evaluation or development of new or revised policies and procedures and compiles statistics from data requiring substantial analysis, interpretation, and development of new formats. * Assembles retrieved information into different formats to meet different requirements (e.g., program reviews, status reports, unmet customer needs, other similar areas, etc.). * Extracts and assembles data from files and other records. Compiles statistics, status, and other supply information and develops lists of supply sources for items. * Compiles and prepares recurring status reports, reports for customers, audits, Inspector General (IG), and other requests. * Prepares charts for briefings on performance and capabilities of different supply organizations and sources. * Performs comparative analyses of reports of supply activities submitted by lower echelons. * Alerts analyst or supervisor of discrepancies and gaps in reported transactions and statistics. * Performs administrate office support functions to include record keeping, updating manuals on policies, directives, reporting, and informational duties in support of the organization's programs, functions, and projects. * Provides guidance to other employees on changes to regulations, policies, and procedures. Provides technical assistance and guidance to supply specialists, operating officials, and employees on the regulatory requirements for submitting and processing a wide variety of supply transactions. * Conducts on-the-job training for new personnel in all phases of assigned work and instructs on specific tasks and job techniques. * Conducts quality reviews of work and identifies, develops, and conducts remedial training based on quality reviews. * Reviews supply system changes, updates procedures, and provides guidance to employees based on review of changes. * Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts, and updating or revising existing databases or spreadsheets. * Independently plans and performs complex office automation duties requiring different approaches and methods from one assignment to another, such as using different packages to: edit lengthy and complicated reports; collect, select, organize, and provide information; track the status of a number of projects assigned to the organization; and resolve incompatibility problems in transferring text from one software package to another when menu options and specific software instructions are not available. * Develops methods and procedures for office automation tasks and identifies and solves problems in existing methods or procedures. Uses word processing software to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print forms, memos, and letters; uses database or spreadsheet software to create, enter, revise, sort, or calculate, and retrieve data for reports; and uses graphic software to provide graphs and charts for reports and presentations. * Transmits and receives documents and messages electronically. Knowledge and Qualifications * High School Diploma or equivalent. * Minimum three (3) years' of related experience. * Have effective written and verbal communication skills. * Proficient in the use of MS Office software, including but not limited to: MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word. * Knowledge and experience providing quality customer service to Government employees, military personnel, contractors, and/or visitors.
