Mechanical Engineer IV - Energy Storage
Apply NowCompany: Electric Power Systems
Location: Logan, UT 84341
Description:
Electric Power Systems, Inc. (EPS), an innovative technology company that designs and manufactures Energy Storage Systems for Aerospace and Transportation applications, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer IV to join our growing team. Our mission is to advance, connect, secure, and protect our world with unmatched energy innovation. Headquartered in beautiful North Logan, Utah, we're enabling the future of mobility-one breakthrough at a time.
This is a senior-level position for an experienced and highly capable engineering professional who thrives in a fast-paced, forward-thinking environment. You'll play a critical role in the design, analysis, and development of mechanical systems that power next-generation electric vehicles and aircraft. This is an opportunity to be part of a talented, cross-functional team dedicated to shaping the technologies that will define the future of clean, electric mobility.
As a Mechanical Engineer IV at EPS, you'll be responsible for designing battery modules and packs, including cell packaging, battery management system integration, and cooling systems. You'll work hands-on with aerospace propulsion systems, optimizing packaging for volume, weight, cost, and manufacturability. Your expertise in structural and thermal analysis will be applied to meet rigorous performance and safety standards, and you'll use SolidWorks and other CAD tools for detailed modeling and drawing creation. You'll lead tolerance stack-up analyses and create GD&T-compliant 2D prints, select suitable materials and processes, and ensure all components meet the mechanical and performance requirements.
This role requires the ability to take mechanical designs from concept to production with minimal oversight. You'll conduct prototype testing, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and implement improvements based on performance data. Collaboration is key-you'll work closely with electrical and systems engineers, as well as manufacturing teams, to ensure optimal integration and functionality. You'll also mentor junior engineers and contribute to project planning and execution within cross-functional teams.
We're looking for someone with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and at least seven years of relevant experience. A strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing methods is essential, along with hands-on experience in areas such as CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal, castings, and 3D printing. Proficiency in SolidWorks, stress analysis, and classical mechanics is a must, and experience with electrical integration in battery systems, as well as mechanical harnessing and wire routing, is highly valued. A master's degree and previous experience with aerospace high-voltage electric propulsion or energy storage systems are preferred.
At EPS, your work will directly support critical aerospace and transportation programs. You'll be part of a mission-driven organization that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. We offer competitive compensation, meaningful work, and the opportunity to grow alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry.
Located in North Logan, Utah, EPS offers a beautiful and welcoming environment with easy access to outdoor recreation, a supportive community, and a great quality of life. Whether you enjoy hiking, skiing, or simply relaxing in a scenic setting, Logan provides the perfect backdrop for work-life balance.
If you're ready to take your career to the next level and work on innovative technology that's transforming the future of mobility, we invite you to apply today.
