Responsibilities:
  • Engineering and Liaison Role:
    • Act as liaison between reactor design team and production, implementing new designs into manufacturing.
    • Serve as first responder for production non-conformances; drive root cause analysis and disposition per manufacturing policies.
  • Design and Process Updates:
    • Update designs/processes based on manufacturing issues, obsolescence, or system changes.
    • Participate in design reviews, providing expertise in manufacturability, testability, yield improvement, supplier assessment, and quality control.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Prepare and maintain engineering documents including schematics, BOMs, alternate parts lists, drawings, assembly, and test procedures.
    • Collect, analyze, and summarize product and process data to generate informative reports.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Lead lean projects aimed at waste reduction, cost savings, and yield improvements in manufacturing processes.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Chemical, Aeronautical, or Systems Engineering.
  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in design, development, or manufacturing of mechanical/electrical components (internship/project experience included).
Preferred Experience:
  • Manufacturing Experience:
    • 3+ years in a manufacturing environment under recognized quality systems (AS9100, ISO9001).
    • Engineering support experience for complex electronic products production.
  • Product Transition:
    • Experience transitioning products from design to manufacturing within cross-functional teams.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with NX/Unigraphics software.
    • Ability to interpret and create drawings per ASME Y14.5 standards.
    • Tooling design experience within manufacturing.
    • Programming skills in Python, SQL, and web languages.
    • Knowledge of ERP systems, work orders, and BOM structures.
  • Additional Skills and Qualifications:
    • Six Sigma certification (Belt level).
    • Problem-solving ability in fast-paced, iterative design environments, particularly in metal fabrication, machine shops, or welding.
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Passion for advancing clean nuclear energy technology.
