Location: South San Francisco, CA 94080

Description:

Who we are

Integral is building technologies to treat neurological and psychiatric disorders.

Our first device is a miniaturized, implanted, deep-brain interface for severely affected patients. It will have unprecedented capabilities for recording and modulating neural activity and for monitoring patients' symptoms.

This device will dramatically advance our ability to treat brain disorders and to understand their biological causes. We will use this unique discovery platform to develop an expanding range of more effective treatments that will ultimately be accessible to everyone.

Leadership:
  • Flip Sabes, CSO - Neuralink cofounder, UCSF Professor Emeritus, neuroscientist and neurotech innovator
  • Milan Cvitkovic, CEO - Neurotech venture builder; previously first-hire at Convergent Research, AI researcher, and software engineer
  • Stephen O'Driscoll, VP of Engineering - Verily cofounder and former Head of Electrical Engineering, former Director of Device Electronics at Science Corp

We prioritize ambitious engineering, speed, and patients' needs.

What you'll do

You will personally own multiple mission-critical MechE efforts for developing and shipping our first device, including more than one of the following:
  • Design, fabrication, and testing of surgical tooling for precise placement of our device's novel leads in the brain
  • Surgical procedure development, including process iteration with surgeons and in vivo testing
  • Development of implanted hardware, such as cables, connectors, and enclosures
  • Verification and validation testing of systems and components

We work full-time, in-person in South San Francisco.

Who we're looking for

In addition to deep experience and exceptional abilities in surgical tool and procedure development, you should have experience in at least one of the following areas:
  • Design, assembly, and manufacturing of other medical devices
  • Mechanical test development
  • Preclinical testing
  • Packaging and sterilization
  • Development of surgical targeting systems
  • Image analysis
  • Product management
  • Vendor management

You should also have:
  • The desire to get your hands dirty: drive CAD, fabricate prototypes, write code, etc.
  • Cross-disciplinary knowledge of disciplines like biomedical engineering, materials science, biology, medical imaging, or software engineering
  • Deep understanding of fundamental MechE principles
  • A track record of swift execution

Experience bringing implantable devices to market is a bonus.

Neurotechnology experience is not necessary.
