SPTS (Specialty Printing and Technology Solutions) is an exciting and dynamic organization focused on developing products and technologies for OEM partners that deliver winning products into the marketplace. The SPTS R&D lab develops technologies to support printhead, inks, writing systems, system enablement hardware and proto-typing hardware tools. SPTS develops ink and writing systems for various market segments including coding and marking industrial applications, mail addressing and postage. This area of focus is a growing market for the SPTS business. This mechanical engineer opening is to support development of the next generation of coding and marking printhead, hardware and inks which will increase HP's leadership position.
JOB DESCRIPTION
SPTS Mechanical Engineers are responsible for enabling new product introductions and technology development according to HP's product development processes. Job responsibilities will include hardware design and characterization for fulfillment of print systems, proto-typing, creating and updating CAD drawings and specifications for new and current product support.

The base pay range for this role is $93,150 to $140,650 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Specific examples for job description and responsibilities include:
- Creating new or modified hardware designs according to program needs, carry out analysis and evaluation of those designs to ensure that fundamentals are fully understood, basic problems are solved, and that the design is sufficiently robust to continue to meet regulatory and HP quality standards.
- Facilitate trouble-shooting for sub-system or system issues and contribute expertise to problem solving teams
- Characterize writing system components (e.g. pen designs, hardware) to ensure meeting program specifications
- Support upkeep/design of testbed infrastructure
QUALIFICATION (Experience & Skills)
- Education: BS or MS in mechanical engineering
- Skilled in analytical decision-making, troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Proficiency in CAD design
- Proficiency in practical experiment design and applied statistics.
- Familiarity with design for manufacture
- Strong interpersonal relationship, teamwork, and excellent communication and networking skills.
- Experience with new product development is desirable
- Fluent spoken and written English
