Job Summary: Client is currently seeking Fulltime Mechanical Engineers to join our team in our Charlotte, NC office. The successful candidates will be working as part of a team of engineers and designers preparing modification packages for mechanical and piping systems serving the nuclear power industry.

Requirements:
  • ny new hire will be required to be within commuting distance of Charlotte, NC office.
  • We are looking mid to senior level, i.e. 5-12 years of experience in Mechanical engineering, supporting power generation within (5 years $100k - $120k, 8 years $120k - $140k, 12 years $140k - $160k)
  • This is a nuclear project supporting a power and natural gas company.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5, 8 to 12 years of relevant experience depending on level in the mechanical engineering field, with 2, 5, to 8 years supporting nuclear work.
  • The ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Power and natural gas company's nuclear experience.
  • Master of Science Degree in mechanical or nuclear engineering preferred.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in US.
  • Experience with fluid flow software (AFT FATHOM, PROTO-FLO, KYPIPE, or Equivalent).
  • Experience with Fire Protection and Detection Systems.

Responsibilities
  • Develop design modification packages for mechanical systems at a nuclear power plant, such as piping modifications, system reconfigurations, valve and traveling screen replacements.
  • Perform engineering calculations such as hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing, HVAC sizing, heat load analysis, and pressure loss calculations.
  • Develop mechanical design and procurement specifications.
  • Prepare engineering drawings such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), General Arrangement (GA), Equipment Plan, Piping Orthographic and Isometric drawings.
  • Develop material and workhour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules.
  • Exercise sound engineering judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues, review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design criteria.
  • Interface with plant stakeholders to determine project scope/requirements, support construction/implementation and start up activities as required.
