Job Description

Join our HVAC Engineering team as a Mechanical Engineer and contribute to the development of cutting-edge chiller systems that will define the future of sustainable cooling solutions. The Mechanical Engineer is a key member of our new product design and development team dedicated to developing advanced cooling solutions, particularly for data center customers. Leveraging expertise in thermal systems, this role involves designing, analyzing, and optimizing chiller systems for maximum efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the integration of mechanical system designs into chiller and split system new product development programs.
  • Develop solutions that best meet the local/global market needs by integrating multiple technologies into the product.
  • Conduct thermodynamic-based modeling and optimization of chiller system design, fluid filtration, and pumping.
  • Work cross-functionally with service and operations teams to effectively launch designs into production.
  • Develop chiller system architecture that meets or exceeds product development requirements.
  • Confirm product design performance, capability, and reliability in engineering product test laboratories.
  • Collaborate with product marketing teams to develop product requirements and ensure the product meets their needs upon launch.
  • Execute tests for systems, sub-systems, and components, and analyze test results in relation to design specifications and test objectives.
  • Follow all appropriate design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs.
  • Work toward commonality and optimization of product & components to reduce design errors and escapes.
  • Produce parts, specifications, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems, or work orders/purchase requests.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in thermal systems engineering.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years of mechanical engineering design experience, or a Master's degree with 3-6 years of mechanical engineering design experience.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics of chiller systems, chiller modeling, tube in shell heat transfer, pressure vessel design, refrigerant system performance analysis, and compression application.
  • Experience in thermal analysis (Chillers, HVAC, Heat exchange, etc.).
  • Proficiency in pressure vessel - ASME standards.
  • Project leadership experience.
  • Strong communication skills, primarily in English.
  • Leadership and teamwork skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in new product development, service, and/or aftermarket space.
  • HVAC industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Some quoting and costing experience is nice to have.
  • Experience with Engineering to Order systems with 3000+ parts/BOMs/sub-assemblies.
  • Experience with windchill, BOM, and design review.
Work Environment

This role operates on a global platform for global chillers with engineering, materials, design, and manufacturing all onsite. The position involves working with engineering, design, supply chain, scheduling, material planners, quality, and manufacturing teams. It also includes interactions with customers and vendors. The global role includes special orders shipped to various regions including the Middle East, US, and Canada. The organization is moving to SAP, and the role involves handling high-profile assignments and special orders for clients like data farms.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
