What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead and support design efforts across a wide range of facility types including commercial, laboratory, and industrial projects. In this role, you'll be responsible for the design and coordination of mechanical systems, including utility piping, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and process ventilation systems. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, review design quality and play an active role in client communications. Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the design of the mechanical systems and the day-to-day guidance of the mechanical project teams needed to support the design for a variety of facilities projects including commercial facilities, laboratory facilities, and industrial facilities.
  • Mechanical systems design including - Utility piping systems commonly found in industrial facilities and associated P&ID's (e.g. steam, cooling water, chilled water, compressed air, etc.), HVAC Systems, Plumbing systems, Fire protection systems, Process ventilation
  • Reviews work of others for quality
  • Assists in the preparation or modification of reports, specifications, plans, permits, and designs for project
  • Assists in client contact and communication, and attends client meetings
  • Assists in the analysis of reports, maps, drawings, and tests, in order to plan and design projects
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
  • Performs other duties as required


Education & Experience Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • 5 years' minimum experience, 8+ years preferred
  • Professional Engineer license required
  • Experience using Revit and AutoCAD required
  • Familiarity with International codes including IMC, IPC, IFGC, and IFC required
  • Familiarity with design for Federal market and guiding UFC's, a plus
  • Familiarity with the ASME B31.1 and B31.3 piping codes, a plus
  • Experience with piping stress analysis and/or water/wastewater facilities, a plus
  • Experience mentoring early-career engineers and EITs, a plus
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret job-related manuals and documents
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills
